I think it would be rather naieve to think that ALL FIA decisions have a political agenda.

Maybe if Renault/RBR would have submitted tech drawings/models to the FIA instead of calling CW's cell phone while he was on the golf course, things may have turned out differently?
You seem to have changed your mind about this forum. I thought you were disgusted with Tomba and the rest of us?

Nope, just you WhiteBlue.

Even if there is a political agenda, so what? There was definitely a political agenda when Ferrari dominated during the 'dream team' area, and there was very likely a political agenda when Renault was on top.

Either way, this is going down a slippery path of assumptions. We don't know all the details, but we know at least some of the details, and that is what we have to go on at the moment.

Word around the paddock is that Renault and RBR actually *did* submit technical drawings, and that Whiting deemed their designs to be illegal based on the drawings he saw.

Sigh...think nothing of it WB, some individuals simply never come around.

Anyway, if there was a request made from RBR, or by anyone on anything else for that matter, to an FIA official, there should obviously be proper documentation of the same.

Unless this billion dollar business is being technically governed through ear and cell-phone only by a spanner-man from MrE's old Brabham team, but that couldn't be?

Actually from what I see this is all (for good and bad) is managed exactly that way.

Well if RBR and Renault indeed did show technical drawings, why not show these designs out in the open, unless there is something to hide? The FIA may not have gotten copies of these drawings, and besides the FIA has no reason to be showing proposed RBR and Renault diffuser designs. RBR and Renault are the ones that continue to whine and complain, so the onus is on them to actually prove they were treated unfairly. So far they have shown no proof that they had similar diffuser designs to Williams and Toyota last year.

I'd quote xpensive from other thread

So I guess the award officially goes to Renault, as what McLaren showed yesterday is not really a DDD.

I think one can now say, that Renault probably really inquired at FIA concerning the diffusor design. Can´t imagine that they were able to construct something complex like this without already having had the idea before. Look, it isn´t just the diffusor but also a new engine cover and exhaust arrangement.

Taking this in account I do understand why Flavio Briatore is upset!

Great job Renault =D>

The RedBull is truly the best non-DDD car on the grid and making the DDD cars look silly, imagine how fast they'll be when Newey finishes theirs!

Problem is that RB5 seems to be so optimized that introduction of DDD may give less benefit in their case. Or not.
Season gotta be interesting.

Who is to say RBR in China does not employ the very same floor and diffuser, which earlier was declared illegal by CW?

I fail to see how adding extra DF with no drag penalty could possibly be bad for RBR?

This is new? Before that central piece connected to the crash structure, now its below, it seems they've opened up their double deck a bit more...
