Kyle (former Mercedes’ aero engineer) has a positive view of the MCL36 aero concepts. So I’m optimistic Mclaren will be competitive.

I wouldn’t take that as a sign of on track performance

If anything… The one thing that bothers me (not that it matters) is the fact that they have lost the first 40 minutes of testing without having the car on track… Images showed the mechanics working on the front suspension, without a baseline, it means that they weren’t ready to hit the ground running
[Just two cars yet to run in this opening hour: McLaren and Haas. McLaren's preparing itself to run some aero validation work, while Haas will emerge later on in the day after freight delays./b]

Could this suggest something new and significant on the car?

Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Lando finally on track with 50 minutes into the test… Aero rakes at the front of the car to understand the suspension aero performance

Different teams seem to have very different approaches to run plan, McLaren seem to always do little laps and take big breaks, I saw this with Barcelona as well, I know their late today because of the driver change, but curious as to their approach.

Ricciardo feeling unwell probably caused them to start a little bit later than usual but it is nothing really extraordinary. Mornings are always aero runs.

Not looking that good at the moment. I am not sure if there are any problems or not but I have barely seen the car so far.

I don't understand why the team uses so little of their time on the track. ](*,)

I don't think it's by choice... pretty sure they would be running more laps if they could... not sure what the problem could be though :/

Was listening to Davidson and Crofty and Anthony said that the track is very undrivable at this stage. So probably running is a little unrepresentative.

But it is still strange they are running so little

If there is a problem they would be working on it?

Yeah it doesn't make sense. There has to be some sort of issue.

Or are they saving fuel because of the increased oil prices globally

Edit: Ah okay, there it is. There was a problem after all.
