No, it's what I say. I'd rather see a proper engineering sports without 'spirit of the rules' bollocks where designs are evaluated based on specific, measurable, actionable agreement with quantitative rules. And hence, that such spiritual protests would not occur or be dismissed right away.
But yeah, if such protests are going to happen anyway, then I'd rather see them hurt those that defended the 'spirit' interpretation/called a car that allegedly 'went against the spirit' 'illegal'. That it also damages Mercedes can be interpreted as a plus in that it harms 'the other' team, but I don't want to see a competition be influenced that way.
