This was his third stint, not second. He had two stints on C3s before.

If we look on the GPS trace the car is indeed a beast in slow corners!

Ferrari is visibly at a higher ride height so I'm not too worried about them.

What about riding high and still producing enough downforce?

It is depressing what Lewis said for AMus or published by AMuS :(
Wait 8 more days to see a Mercedes 1-2

Nah they're gonna be third best or maybe get caught out by a 4th team who have got the car under control for drivers to push. If what they say is true, I don't think we will see what they were expecting until third way through the season. Probably won't win the championship but it seems like the team believes in their concept fully and just needs to get it stable enough to push.

Hamilton qualified second on the grid for the Bahrain Grand Prix, over three-tenths of a second slower than Max Verstappen’s Red Bull. He said the gap is “definitely closer than we expected.”

“I think this is a really good step forward for us coming this weekend,” Hamilton continued. “I think we thought it was double the gap that you see today and so that’s really down to some really fantastic work from the men and women back at the factory.”

Red Bull will retain a similar advantage in tomorrow’s race, Hamilton believes. “That’s just from the information that I’ve been given and from what I can see.

“Our balance wasn’t really that spectacular, but it wasn’t the worst, driving. It was just if you work things out, it looked like it was a couple of tenths difference between us. But we’ll see. It definitely didn’t look terrible and it was a lot better than what I thought was going to be in testing.”

He was unwilling to elaborate further on the nature of Mercedes’ problems with their car. “I can’t really tell you what we’re struggling,” he said. “I don’t want to tell you what our problem is.”

A few minutes ago they compared RUS to VER in T14, which was quiet deceptive, since both of them overcooked that corner on their respective laps...

The performance of the car is indeed a bit all over the place at the moment, but with blinks of encouraging signs, for example RUS' minimum speed in T11 on his current PB lap was 154 km/h, which is the highest I've seen today so far, and I doubt it was with quali-level fuel load...

Noo... not next week. In 2019 we could see the last day of testing was mega, matching Ferrari when all of them showed their hand, and last year in 2021 the car was not as awfull as is these days. Im afraid they messed up the whole concept. And an information that I saw on someones twitter is that Totto left the paddock and went directly to Brackley. It is not a good sign. They are very worried. Realistically.

Don't worry, in 2019 Mercedes looked worried with long faces, the management rushed out of Barcelona and flew to the factory, repeating: Ferrari is faster by 0.5s on the straights (modestly silent about own greater advantage in corners). Points at the end of the season everyone knows :)

Seems like we go through this every year….only to show up at the first race with a car ready to race. Mercedes will crunch all the numbers and get it fixed, no need to worry boys….

It seems like Mercedes are trying to figure out if the car is quicker even while it's porpoising. They could raise the car to solve the issue, but I suspect they feel they are losing too much lap time by doing that. Either way it's not a good sign, they do appear to be on the back foot.

I don't buy in to the sandbagging theories, just look at the car on track, it's more than a handful and they clearly have some issues. Even if it can be fast on the odd lap, I can't see them taking it through a whole race without making various mistakes and wearing the tyres out quicker.

It's a long season.. I rather have the problem of taming the bronco than riding a slower horse.
