Did they say how they determined McLaren’s race pace?
It's complete guess work. They were quite wrong last year with this prediction too. If I recall correctly, last year they put Ferrari behind Alfa Romeo and McLaren on par with Mercedes.
I think this is last year one

trying to compare any non-competitive laps is always going to be futile, there are just to many variables to take into account

best to wait to Q3
Just providing some data for the forum

Valid point… I’ll keep quiet now 😂
That’s why I tried not to make any kind of analysis out of it… With so many variables in place, as you well said, it would be meaningless… But is always nice to have some data, everyone can interpret it as they want 😁

Daniel and Lando together reviewing Drive to Survive. 🤣

It’s clear they’ve got a lot of respect for each other and genuinely get along well.

Did McLaren run the car lower than others? I'm surprised no one seems to mention the scrubbing sound it was doing on the straights (onboard footage). Did not notice it on the other cars.

Isn't the different sound more likely due to different mic placement? Believe the exhaust mics were placed by the teams for testing (?)

That would be my guess (mic placement)… I hope they change it, pretty annoying actually

Doesn't seem like mic placement to me. It did sound like it was scraping hard.

Am I misremembering? Did we have skid plates on the floor that other cars didn't that might cause this? I have some dim recollection of unusual skid plates on the floor from somewhere!

It must be intentional, because I doubt they would leave it bottoming out like that if it wasn't.
