It looks like all three training sessions will be very intense for McLaren, with a lot of work to be done for the drivers and chassis.

Unfortunately this is not good if it is the case as this extra testing would be being moved on to engines sitting in the pool.

If our car is fast we can compensate for that in few races where you can take penalty and still recover .... but it is a big IF at the monent, but I'm sure the team will come up with a fix this weekend.

Titanium I think, hence the sparks
Yep!
Just reading about it, it is "Jabroc" that sits underneath the titanium plates and is used to measure and ensure the cars are not getting too close to the ground. A type of veneered high density wood.
I just found some online, not that expensive… I may buy some to tinker with!

It will be interesting to see what the fix is. Lando says it isn't simple, is that just because it takes a week and ruins testing or because it'll be a longer process?

Hopefully it's a case of increasing throughout and reinforcing the part and we are good.

It requires a redesign that is why is not a easy fix (Lando was referring to the question, can it be done on track at the test?) and the simple answer was NO, but they did manage to make it better by end of day 3 with what they had on hand in Bahrein.

I'd imagine they were already building a permanent fix too so hopefully they will be good come Friday.

Exciting times.

Lando: The team has been working incredibly hard to address the issues we had at testing and make sure we’re ready to battle it out on track this weekend.

Probably the different ducts will be used at different tracks.

But will someone tell me what Mclaren are using all that hot air for! Where is it going to?? Are they using it help the flow around the car, lower the pressure above the diffuser...? Does the car have AC now??

I would guess either being used for aerodynamic purposes, or as a way of managing tire temps.

Thats why there were practically no new deals struck in pre-season.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows
