Thanks heaven the Mercedes is so great. #-o It's easier to improve on PU reliability than finding 5-6 tenths a lap, even under the new regs.
Lol no, It's way harder to fix a power unit issue than it is an aero issue in the current formula.
Can't just be aero with all mercs trailing at the back and top speed down
The other 2 merc powered teams have been bad for a while.

No, you can change/fix the unit for reliability, that is why they have reliability upgrades
They had that a decade ago, it was strange how reliability also improved performance, mostly with Renault

Well that’s gunna lead to penalties later on for RedBull no doubt.
Id say a MGU-K or CE issue rather than ICE

There was some reports of potential issues with the E10 fuel when it got low... maybe that might've had something to do with the Honda power units?
Seems like all three are more electrical related
That was clearly fuel or oil or hydraulic fluid burning up the Alfa Tauri

Leclerc was also saying on the radio that he had engine problems on the last lap.
Could you possibly find a link for that? Didn't get any of that on the broadcast...

Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go 8)
If this is karma, what explains the previous eight seasons of Renault and Honda powertrain issues?

Crazy, double PU failure
It’s 3 if you include Gasly.
A reminder that F1 is still in the hybrid era. I'm reminded of its first year...
Yep. If RedBull power is fast but fragile they may have to turn them down and seeing as we no longer have qualifying modes.

McLaren wasn't that bad.

McLaren and Aston were never this bad. It should become more clear once McLaren solves their brake issues.

Looks like that new Red Bull engine isn't so great after all, 75% failure rate in the first race!

Ignoring the stupid bickering among people & some ridiculous comments from Mercedes fans - For reliability purpose, you can do changes in the PU even under freeze so you can improve reliability but you can’t improve performance, it is frozen till 2025 End. So if Mercedes have a PU say 1-2 tenths slower they will have to live with it.

Having said that this isn’t good for RB @ all. If this issues comes up again, Leclerc will build up a gap to Vertsappen & then RB will need 3-4 tenths quicker car to challenge for the championship to make up the gap. And mind you from Ferrari to RB to Mercedes, they will all improve their cars.

I thought Merc strategy did everything they could to make it worse, they was saved by a safety car.
