That video is brilliant, such skill. It's in my favourites! I wonder if any of the guys these days even have the skill to drive like thatas they (probably) have never needed such car control throughout their raing career.

Throttle wise for me, it would probably be Button, Alonso, Vettel and Kimi. Others that are pretty damned good are Heidfeld and Rossberg, Buemi has impresses me much also.

Worst, id say would be Hamilton as he is like a light switch, either on or off, same with Piquet and Nakajimma. Kubica and Massa arnt as bad as they once used to be.

Agreed that this is remarkable thing to watch but don't do disfavor for current drivers - those cars 1978 are some much different to present day F1 it is pointless to compare guys driving them.

3:50-4:03 best part of that drive!

but that video does show just how far drivers have come. Depailler was extremely gentle into corners and spent a lot of time off both throttle and brakes, just cruising up to the next corner before braking.

which F1 driver has the best understanding of throttle control?
well when do we have the most equal conditions for this to be answered more accurately? in the wet..
my top 3 in no particular order are based on a few of the past wet races,

Sutil must be up there, same with Button. Hamilton seems to be good and probably pushes the limits more-so than most others.

i would have Trulli up there too, but his last race was pretty disappointing and Kubica just put him out of his misery.

Juan Pablo Montoya I think was the best of all... He always was the first pushing hard the throttle pedal, much heavier than anyone else. I miss Juancho in F1, do you remember his talent?
