Post here all non technical related topics about Formula One. This includes race results, discussions, testing analysis etc. TV coverage and other personal questions should be in Off topic chat.
why? they are rubbish, its like teams in past, minardi, simtec, arrows, jaguar and more, they are always at the back, they can hardly get into the top 10.
If we take Force India and, lets say Toro Rosso out, right now the Ferraris and McLarens would be the "new" Minardis/Simteks/Force Indias/Arrows and would be at the back of the grid, together with Nakajima and Piquet.
So your next question will be: why do teams like McLaren and Ferrari compete?
and I´ll say: OK! Lets quit them!
see my point? With your philosophy, in the end only Brawn would be racing in F1... or not! Because you would have made them quit the year after when they sucked as Honda
Returning to the basic question: why do teams like force india compete? Because at any time people like VJ Mallya can hire Ross Brawn, Adrian Newey and Ignacio Belatti together and tell them: "Hey, design a car for me for the 2011 season, I´ll pay you 50 million for that, only to prove Adam wrong..."
Another reason is because those teams that are rubbish according to you are the ones that gave the opportunities to guys like Senna (1984 Tolemann), Alonso (2001 Minardi), Schumacher (1991 Jordan), Damon Hill (1992 Brabham), Hakkinen (1991 Lotus) and many more

Frank Williams, Jack Brabahm, Bruce Mclaren, Enzo Ferrari, Peter Sauber, Colin Chapman, Roger Penske, all of these people, to name just a few, have racing in their blood. It's that simple, they love this wonderful sport. I list just a few who were successful. But there are scores who are just as passionate, and devote themselves to racing.
But there is the business side, which has be accomodated or else the racing doesn't happen. In fact, Enzo Ferrari considered his production car business only there to provide funds to allow him to race. To him, they were a means to an end.
But there's a LOT of money to be lost or made in Formula One.
Wandering off topic for a moment, a joke I really like. "How do you make a small fortune in racing? Start with a large fortune."
Back to the topic, these days most of it's about exposure. Exposure for advertising, exposure to boost the prestige of manufacturers and associates. And when you factor in the huge costs for global advertising, then all of a sudden Formula One makes sense. It's a business, and that's what drives Formula One. And if the business side is managed properly, then the team can actually make money.
Why do we compete? To win? Maybe for many, but for others, just being able to compete is reward enough. Heck, if everyone packed it in after the first loss, sport would not exist. The loser is the one who quits, but the ones who persevere and never stop trying are perpetual winners, because at least, they are giving it a try. Just look at any major sport, and you can easily find teams mired in the bottom, doomed to spend many years in the basement. But they don't give up. And these teams enjoy fans totally devoted to them. Go figure.. it isn't because they win, instead it's because they have character and do not surrender at the first sign of hardship.
In my youth I was involved in a lot of competitive sports. I do have a couple of championships to my credit, but I competed for the joy of it. I had pushed myself, improved my abilities, really enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships I cultivated during these competitions. Amazingly, in many games I competed in, I rarely thought about the score or who won or lost, I was having too much fun. Yup, I also ate many mouthfuls of dirt, suffered broken bones, and humiliation of making mistakes in front of a crowd. But it was all worth it. Definitely.
Racing should be decided on the track, not the court room.

I have to admit I was a Minardi fan. That guy made it year after year for a couple of decades and usually had 10% of the budget of the big teams. Sometimes his cars were even faster and many many other teams with more budget were even slower and quited. He knows what efficiency is. He should be asked for advice for all this new budget cap crap!

I concider those comments a bit of a slur on each and every individual that works or connected with Force India with Force India. You are questioning their fabric of their being, their motivation. We are all motivated for something, and i do not question anyones motivation.
Their motivation is to compete in the big time, the pinacle of motorsport with arround a fith of the budget of guys with the biggest budget, and succeed, and i am impressed with what the team does for their resources. They were arround 2.4 seconds off the pace arround 2 years ago, now they are within 1.4 seconds of the pace, and that is a massive achivment for this team and everyone connected with this team. I applaud them for their hard work and determination.
Ive said my pice now, so im not gonna respond any more to this small minded question.
Oh man, this is funny, Ciro, well held, I had a mental image of your attack dogs straining at the leash, and they did their job we are all happily typing away still...
To reference Rob W, I think depending on your mindset, the pursuit is often more than half of the fun, it's what makes up 90% of life anyway. We can't all be winners all the time, that sort of stuff is for the little kids on school sports day when every one wants a medal. You want to be treated like a grown up? you lost, deal with it In fact deal with it better than anyone else and you probably stand a far greater chance of winning one day.

I've written and deleted several replies, only to finally realize it's all been said -- and that your post does not merit as much time and effort as others have given it.
Seriously and with no personal attack meant, you probably need to find another activity to fill your time.
