Nearly a second made in the 2-3 low speed corners, alarming. It seems like no matter what they do, the regulation or years that go by, they’re unable to solve the low speed and front end issues.

This exactly. We still have a hideous deficit there. Car just doesn’t want to turn in. The apex speed is woeful. Sure, high speed the car works but it’s comparatively dog-like in slow speed

Couldn't watch here as I was getting ready for work, but in Bahrain the understeer was awful.

I was getting the "nails on chalkboard" feeling when looking at the car drag its tires at some of those corners.

I look at the graph and I don't understand how McLaren could create a car that loses everywhere and so much. Even last season, we were fast in the high-speed corners and on the straights, now there is nothing to praise the team for. I don't understand what they've been doing all last year.

I find it bizarre that the well documented slow speed issues are still there. They've been talking about it, acknowledging it since 2019! Surely they don't need to have the wind tunnel operational before it can be fixed once and for all?

It gets more frustrating when you take into account the fact that they actually tried to make the car more balanced this year (by James' own words)

While trying to improve on their weaknesses, they actually amplified them while getting rid of the strengths as well. It's a double screw up ...

Lmao that overlay shows we literally have a dogshit car. Congrats to James key and the team. This 1.2 second gap isnt going away anytime soon. Norris' comments show that if they made 'positive' changes and are 1.2 seconds off still. Like seriously.

They say that we are missing a lot of mechanical grip,downforce and having a lot of drag but is there a fundamental problem that causes it? Is there a possibility with a good upgrade of the car that will be solved and give us a large amount of time?

The car imo looks a lot better here, it’s consistently faster than the other Mercedes runners and Daniel and Lando have been within 1-2 tenths the whole day.

Yes a much better Friday, people expecting a front running car with zero updates 3 races in need to adjust their expectations, hopefully we can gain some more points this weekend, lessen the gap until we unlock some proper speed for this car

Car looked a lot better than where it started and Bahrain does look a “bogey” track from that perspective.

Hopefully they can jump forward again tomorrow and stay in the fight for Q3 after the others improve.

Ferrari traction is very impressive- if there is anything we can learn from them to improve ours I’d be most delighted!! Red Bull is good but Ferrari traction is unreal.

Any thoughts on design philosophy and how we start to get closer to that lower speed performance?
