There was a difference between Alonso and Ocon setups i think fernando was more than half s faster on qualy than Ocon its huge so i think he focused in qualy setup more than race setup and he got graining after 5 laps
Alonso was fine. He got blisters or bad graining in his front left tyre, the Mediums & then it wouldn't work. Came out behind traffic & tried overtaking cars in a DRS train who had Hards & then he was done for.
Grid position is key. If you start P4-P5, then it is okay. Alonso on 25-30 lap Hards was not hugely slower than Mclaren or Mercedes with new Mediums. This track is too hard to overtake & you need to be in the Top 5-6 to have a good race. Alpine has pace, possibly near to Mercedes. They need upgrades & to nail down Position 3. Alonso could have been on the podium instead of Russel on pure pace !
