Just realised Mercedes does not have a promising junior ready anymore, now they have Russel in the driver seat.

So who is on the shortlist for Hamiltons replacement?
More likely either trying to get Ocon back or paying Mclaren a fairly large amount for Norris.
Remains to be seen what will be the situation for Sainz and Ricciardo in a couple of years, they can be more conservative choices.

Or bring back Bottas
Ocon is signed with Alpine till end of 2024.
Why would McLaren allow Norris to walk for any amount of money?
Why would Norris want to go to Merc ?

Hamilton is 37 and signed to 2 more years. I doudt he's gonna be ready to retire in 2 years. So basically a ton of drivers will come up from the lower formula in that time.

Honestly Piastri could do a couple of years at Williams between now and then...

Keep in mind that Piastri would be attached by a string to Alpine they they could pull him back at any time.

Oh dear. Red bull’s idea of the paddock where you get points for reading/watching/participating is much better. At least it’s free and not tied to a sponsor.

Who’s going to want to spend £££ on a token to exchange for a digital picture?

Read the article. The two NFT's they're about to sell include the physical rear wings that will be used in Miami. Plus the money all goes to charity.

Yes, but as we've seen with Sainz/RB and Ocon/Merc, there's always a way out if someone's keen enough

You think average joe public is going to be able to afford that?

If they selling the actual Miami Rear Wings off....not likely bringing a upgrade RW to that race then

Those 2 got out cause they were expendable. RBR had Max and Ricciardo with Albon and Gasly on their way. RBR were also wrong about Sainz, they didn't think he'd amount to much. With regards to Ocon, he sat out for a season cause he didn't have a seat after spending some time at Race point. The 3 year deal for Ocon look strange, at the time, from Alpine. I suspect the 3ird year was negotiated as part of his release from Merc/Wolfe.

Bottom line I think the future is here and Merc isn't gonna have any more pull than Alpine for a driver. They each have fairly equal chances of winning...I hope.

Could be true. Bottas and Nico had better tyre warm up than Lewis almost always.

Mercedes is following different paths in the setup for the two cars.
It went completely wrong in Jeddah and in Imola the rain got in the way.
In Bahrain and Australia Hamilton was better than Russell - it was unlucky in Melbourne with the safety car

I think tyre warm up had a huge effect all year. Not only Hamilton starting where he did causing him to be way down on a possible finish this week but things like first lap out of the pits fighting and timing the best qualli lap among the flags. I think just getting this a little better will mean a big step forward without any actual improvement. But then, betting the tyres right may help with handling anyway.
