Mclaren very soon in one or two races will pull off from that midfield and chase off the first 3.
I love your optimism, but its not going to happen that quickly, if at all this season.

I don't see why they can't do it even in the next race. Barcelona is also gonna be a track which can also favor the strengths of Mclaren not to count the upgrades which will all come there.

These words are not really needed. I understand it's frustrating but it's not needed. Danny Ric doesn't seem to be having the top speed to do some quick passes even with the softs. Miami unfortunately ended in failure.

Why isn’t Ric able to overtake Albon, having 25 laps fresher tyre?

It's the straight line speed. He doesn't have enough. Let's hope in Barcelona the upgrades they bring will change their fortunes.

I don't think those were new softs? Just a gamble that didn't pull off, worth a go though.

According to the F1 timing they are new softs

Clear air pace isn’t bad but if you want to pass you need straight line speed around here. And they’re a sitting duck on it

It's simple. The car cannot cope with the characteristics of Miami. It's not Lando or Daniel. These straight lines cost Mclaren too much time. 11th place was the best today. Maybe Lando would have been in the points if it wasn't for Gasly.

Yes, Mclaren need to look at the low downforce philosophy (so do Ferrari).
Aston Martin looked marginally quicker than Mclaren and they ran a low downforce rear wing here

Let's see what solutions they bring all at once in Barcelona. The others so far have brought a lot of upgrades while Mclaren was with Test 2 Bahrain Car. If things go well with the big upgrade package the target is to gain at worst half a second to rivals. I don't see why they can't manage it if they could keep up with just tweaks to the rival upgrades. I don't think they are gonna challenge for a championship but I want to see if they can improve over the season to the point they can gain a victory on merit.

Mclaren brought 2 upgrades to Miami.
New front suspension and an upgraded floor.
No test 2 Bahrain car here I’m afraid.

I don't think the package is complete. The next race is gonna show us where the full package stands.

You might also want to thank the awful strategy for both cars and the 2 remaining brain cells of gasly for the end result , realistically we where probably the 5 or 6th fastest car ahead in of Williams, alpha tauri, haas(debatable) and Aston Martin
Note: faster than does mean able to pass , it means race lap times , you can have a 0.6 sec advantage over a lap but if the other team decided they didn’t need a rear wing , your not getting past on the parking lot in Miami
