McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

if you follow the tunnel as reference, before the sidepod was as wide, now...

New parts are on Lando's car for fp1. I think it's the old spec on Daniel's car for reference.
New rear wing for Dan?

The outer floor strake with the DeWalt logo on is definitely detailed different. So hoping this new floor will give them the uptick in load generated they’ve so been craving

100% a new sidepod, there is a bulge at the top leading edge that wasn't there, the way it tapers in around the sidepod air entry is also now different.

The FIA changes doc list a sidepod update at point No.5 too!!!

Mirrored and (very slightly) distorted to match better.

The shadow might be misleading but it might be a bit tighter in the coke bottle area?
The bulge over the V of Velo was already mentioned.
Flat main plane RW.
The adjustor on the FW moved so the uppermost element is new (at least).

Yeah the bulge will be the SIPS protrusion. Main reason why Merc could go with the ZeroPods was the rads change which then also required lowering the SIPS. Not an easy change to make. Seems Macca have gone as tight as possible with a conventional layout

Daniel's car definitely has the complete old spec, as they said it would, they're identical. Even has the cockpit strake they said was removed. Let's wait and see what Lando's car looks like, don't think we've seen anything yet.

So it was misleading shadows
The FW and RW are def. different specs though between the two pictures.

The side pods are bulkier on TV. More closer to the Alfa Romeo.

No undercut though. Looks like a tighter version of Haas' sidepods.

Can anyone with F1TV get a snap?
