I’m just interested to see the car tomorrow and spot the details!

Forgetting the other upgrades, do we expect this brake solution to be worth lap time/tyre management on its own?
I'm sure there is some benefit, or else they wouldn't bring any changes, but the switch to the carbon solution compared to the last-minute titanium one they've run would suggest there are probably weight savings, which never hurts.

Some drivers are very sensitive to brake feel; and with changes to the cooling setup (as well as any other material changes or things we can't see inside as of yet) there is potential for this to be quite a huge change. I'm not going to say they are magically going to end up with a car than can pull off 2014-2018 Red Bull/Ricciardo divebombs, but brakes are an area where you can make up lap time both through technical gains (thermal management, weight, etc.) and also just pure driver confidence.

So to answer your question, yes, I think this will provide a lap time benefit.
Yeah that would be awesome particularly for Dan and his mega late braking we have seen him do many times in the past. I wonder if the weight saving will result in a bit of a sharper front end which he likes. Can't wait for FP1!

Tobi Gruner:
Lando Norris will run the new floor in FP1. Daniel Ricciardo is fitted with the old parts to gather comparison data. There are enough parts to fit both cars with the upgrade package if it works as intended.

New engine cover listed in the offical list, which is described as 'revised sidepod shape and width'.

Quite a sized list for McLaren...

Wow, that's A LOT. I was not expecting this much in all honesty. Hoping it works and brings more time than updates from other teams (namely Alfa Romeo brought big package as well).

That is a lot! Imagine if each of those gave a tenth, they'll be near the front! (well, assuming everyone else stays where they are!)

For that to happen all other teams will need to stay stationary with their pace, but since everyone is brining updates the game is who's updates will actually work on the track and who's will be the best.

More to come for sure.

I am more interested on the fp2 data. Particularly the straight line speeds with the new package.

Nice to see that sector 3 is our best sector.

And FP1 isn’t probably the best reference… Let’s see how FP2 looks, which should be a bit more representative… But, until Qualy we won’t really know where the strengths/weaknesses of the new package are

We are normally never nearer the front during FP1. So seeing the timings it’s encouraging

Lando on the press conference: "we still have the slow speed, the last sector, which is maybe not our strength".

And the engine was in a very low mode, when compared to Leclerc and Verstappen, they were massively behind in every single straight and not only at the end of it, but throughout… In their best laps, Leclerc was hitting 327 km/h on the main straight, VER was hitting 323 km/h and Lando did 308 km/h, the difference wasn’t “drag related”
