Which proves their gains are real and not just a function of higher engine modes.

Hamilton on pole would be such a shocker
But that RB is a gem in the hands of Max, especially on race pace.

If the FP2 times are anything to go by (compared to Ferrari & RBR) then just think what this car will be like with setup refinements and performance updates. Not just updates to make the concept work, but updates to make the concept better.

I imagine there is a long night in store for the Merc simulator team

It’s new PUs in the cars for each driver.

Toto needs to be careful saying things like that about a reliability upgrade bringing immediate performance to the PU.

Yeah the gains are real, the engine mode is purely that they are 0.1s behind LEC. AFAIK Russell said that they had higher engine mode than Ferrari so...

Why do sky insist on calling the Mercedes’ floor edge wing an “ice skate”?

Personally i do not believe anything that comes out of Toto's mouth, and also Lewis for that regard. Lets see after the chequered flag who made progress.

Exactly the way he described it, floor edge wing. Redbull have an underfloor skate

I don't really understand the Ferrari since Imola.
How can you have much much more downforce but having more tyre deg ?
They look in the same situation as in 2019 (really good pace in qualy, but a less convincing race pace, and big tyre deg) although they are not anymore just a rocket with a steering.

Right, that is a floor edge wing, which is considerably different to the Redbull skate

You'd be right in saying this, when Toto or Lewis are playing down the performance of the Mercedes (or pumping the tires of another team). Rarely do you hear either of them be bullish about their own car's performance during or after a practice session. In this case I think we can make a suggestion pretty confidently that they are on the road to recovery here. That's different from saying they're the class of the field.

Probably because the suspended floor edge wing is the shape of an ice skate blade

Yes it's rather worrying when Wolff is confident.
Last time he was confident with something done at Brixworth we all know what happened
