The Alluring Spirit of Ferrari Design

Post

An eloquently presented expose of the spirit and unique design culture at Ferrari.
It might be slightly dated but a mesmerising insight by Flavio Manzoni.

Klein bottle Ferrari!

Bravo, 'Ferrari under the foreskin'!

Lamborghini has the fractal look down pat,
so Ferrari go full forza organico, for sure...

Now, what was it ol' Enzo claimed about the purchase of his cars?

Something along the lines of: 'You buy my engines, & get the rest for free'...

So they've now electrocuted his creation - an action, akin IMO - to gluing a plastic
novelty 'Groucho Marx' spectacles/nose/moustache set on the Mona Lisa (& quite sans
irony it seems), in effect - an exemplary 'tres gauche' killing of the Ferrari 'spirit' itself.

(Albeit, it would be ironic, if the newly-installed electrickery was as reliable as the original Italian wiring/switches etc).

Mauro Forghieri,
With patience and the CC button with settings to English (for those...) a fascinating recount and quite the journey through F1 and road car history: wings, dual clutches, Villeneuve etc etc

I understand that Ferrari have to go with the times and match what the rivals were doing, but I find the current designs are too busy and fussy looking.

The essence of Ferrari is the simple, classy shapes of the 360 Modena, the F430, the 458 italia, and even the 488 maintain this classy graceful look.

the 296 is strange looking by comparison.
