I dunno how many of you saw the Indycar race yesterday, but it was fantastic.
It was wet/dry conditions the whole race and Colton Herta put on a racecraft show. Let’s just call a spade a spade and admit, the man is gifted. A joy to watch drive the car.
On lap 4 Herta was the first to pit for slicks and went out onto a slowly drying track, and basically took the field to school in how to drive a car in unpredictable conditions. It was incredible. Haven’t seen hands move that fast since Fred in his prime.
Conditions like this really exemplify the skill sets of the better drivers, and the ones who instinctually know when to make major changes that ultimately win them the race — as was the case yesterday with Herta.
The McLaren drivers ended up taking each other out, which was sad as they were having a good race.
Bummer, Rossi screwed the pooch late in the race and went with wet tires early to try and accomplish what Herta did earlier going to dry’s, early. Then the rain decided not to cover the whole track, he had to re pit, and that was that.
Lots of storylines in an exciting race. It was a thriller. I encourage everyone to watch.
Btw, would be nice if Andretti lands an F1 slot as we would see Colton go against the F1 guys — which would be awesome. The guy should have a shot in F1, imo.
