Alpine A522

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Yes, just like for the engine cover, the floor is segmented into several parts for cost effective developpement.

And they also say in that article that the next big floor update will add 2kg to the car.
Maybe they will change the chape of the undercut of the sidepods and slim it down, so they will have to stiffen up the floor :?: :P

I wonder what's that device placed at the base of the compressor intake since day 1... a heat sink for an electronic device? flow conditioners? vortex generators? sensors? A garfenafuten yuten-Juten exiobalexis?

This channel between the head rest and the halo support... is it there in other cars? It looks relatively huge. It is also something that the driver seems to close with his helmet in the inside side of corners, while opening it wide in the outside side of corners, both lightly blocked in straights (third pic)... that much flow change... it is at least surprising. Wondering if this is in an area that doesn't matter?

Just noticed a little correction on you color coding. The Green piece, you're making it look like 1 piece but it's actually 2.

Correct.
And the red part is just the side impact structure hatch, so not really a developpement part : P

Regarding developpement, the low DF RW is new, but the car has new AM/AT-style sidepod intakes too (unless the picture is playing tricks with my eyes)

Very nice find. What benefits could this have downstream in the flow? It is hard to imagine that this could have similar effects to the F-duct.

They're definitely deeper/more sculpted on the A522... (for drag reduction?) and they have those air outlets...

New sidepods.. at least new entrance. Interesting to see someone go back to the square entry after Aston Martin ditched it

Alpha Tauri style I think. I wonder why they did not present with this design originally? But they must see some benefits in terms of managing pressure distribution by bringing the inlets as forward as allowed, consistent with how other teams originally launched.

Based on these Pics, they've talked on a RBR air entry to the sidepod.
