And the Alfa😂

More concerning is Vettel…. Is he just a specialist here or are Aston taking steps ahead of Mclaren as well now??
They are starting to learn their “new” package and it’s clear that the aero philosophy from Red Bull works, so it was expected for them to start clawing back time compared to the beginning of the season… But, a lot has to do with Vettel himself, this is an street circuit after all and with the walls so close and punishing, confidence not only in the car but yourself plays a big role (not that much different than Monaco in that sense) so it is a mix of both.

But, it isn’t like if the team was that far behind the rest, Lando was out of Q3 by a few hundreds if I’m not mistaken, that’s a very small deficit.

Yep forgot about that lol. Bloody painful being so slow in the main straight. How is Alpine able to run such a skinny rear wing. Impressive.

Pisses me off that we got beaten by Ferrari's B team. 😑

Ferrari’s B-Team? Haas? We outqualified Haas
I meant Red Bulls. It's late and I need to stop drinking 🤣
Lol… Early for me… But I’m already drinking… Coffee and Bailey’s for breakfast!

The Honda PU is definitely strong this season and the AT has always gone well in this track, last year McLaren was outqualified and outraced by Alpha Tauri

I'm not sure we can do much tomorrow Seerix. The car is losing a lot of time on straights I mean a huge amount and it bothers me how Mclaren didn't manage to solve it when they brought the largest upgrade package than all in Spain.
Hopefully we are just fixing things bit by bit instead of making it more difficult trying to do it all at once starting with low speed corner grip which you can make up alot of time. Then working on the top end speed in the near future.
It’s easier to shed drag than it is to create downforce :)

I think the theory for tomorrow is to have more downforce and better tyre life. So possible to catch up in S1 S2, get into DRS tow and use that to mitigate the top speed deficit. I am not sure whether that will work though.

On the other hand, if someone behind gets DRS on us, we are sitting duck.

Ah that’s not ideal. I stupidly let out a sigh of relief after FP3 as well ](*,)

What happened to Landos last lap? He was 2 tenths up on Tsunoda then pitted… did he start the lap after the chequered flag so had to pit?
He made it to the flag… He aborted the lap, but not sure why… Maybe a mistake and loss enough time that he knew he wasn’t going to improve
Cheers.
Thanks, he looked like he was going to make it even though it wasn’t a PB.
Shame but Mclaren aren’t fast enough it seems. Work to do
Nothing but keep working… That’s all they can do at this point.

Once one realizes that this season we won’t be fighting at the front and considers where the team was at the beginning of the season, it becomes more enjoyable to watch… At least that’s what I’m doing, just trying to enjoy the season, one in which P4 will be the target and with potential to fight for P3 if developments help gain some more time.

Maybe but it's not quite the same as previously with these ground effects cars. We knew how to make a car with good top speed previously and never got on top of the low speed stuff where you can make big gains so maybe this time around they concentrated on developing more grip first esp with these new regs.

You have to believe that many will start to adopt the red bull approach apart from Ferrari and Mercedes but who knows

Yea you’ve got to try and win the fight you are in and unfortunately we’ve kinda lost this qualifying battle but won the one in Monaco. It’s going to be all over the place pace wise I think this season

With differences as small as they are, it will definitely be up and down… Look at teams like Haas and Alfa Romeo, in some races they have been very fast (faster than McLaren) in some races (like today) they are slower… At least McLaren seems to be consistently in the fight and that’s positive.

Are all the panicking fans feeling calmer now? 😅
Laughing at people for jumping to conclusions after FP1 and FP2 and you did the same after FP3 😅
Hopefully we can get some points tomorrow, get ahead on tyre management.
I didn't jump to any conclusion, just pointing it out how ridiculous it is to be all over the team after FP2, which it still is 😆

Jeez, did you come over from the Ferrari Thread, it’s hardly acceptable to judge a engineer by 1 car that was developed with lacking facilities and a not so over-abundant cash supply.
Is he Adrian Newey? No.
Is he useless, as you claim?
most certainly not.

Stop asking for heads to roll, there is a reason many fields including F1 use a no blame culture.
How would you feel if the engineer designing the plane for your next flight didn’t feel comfortable reporting his mistakes because he thought someone was going to fire him for it?
A blame culture simply leads to a Team know as Ferrari where constant strategic errors are made, championships are thrown away , simply because every team member doesnt want to be the one to be blamed

Where am i saying he is useless? I just thought he would be better and bring mclaren forward, not backward. He got the clean sheet he wished for and this is the result, I offcourse accept the windtunnel deficit, no doubt, still..
