Congratulations for screwing a 5th position.

I can only surmise that they hadnt prepared lando's tyres (Ric was closest to pitlane on SC) so lando needed a go around.

Well it was still a great battle between positions 2,3,4, 5 and 6.I have a feeling Verstappen forced Mick of the road two times in that last lap.

they had it ready, because they called lando in on radio, but he was already beside the pit entrance when they called, the team were too slow with the call

I think we would have lost the position with Norris and Alonso on softs. We seem defenseless sometimes. We had similar pace on hards.

Great racing at the end, what a moment when Hamilton overtook LEC and PER for P2. A shame he couldn't hold it.

I am still unhappy the team did not go to softs on their last scheduled pitstop for Norris. They were debating it and talking with Norris about it and then pitted him onto Hards. In the end it may not have done a big difference (if everyone pitted on softs) but it's just another conservative strategy when there is not that much to lose.

yeah I don't often get frustrated with the team... but that safety car pit was frustrating to witness

First the safety car, then the pit call cost us P4
But that was one of the best races of all time (been watching since 1988)

Great race by Ricciardo today. Fully managed to finish in front of 1 car on merit.

The difference has become 6 points. Both Daniel and McLaren must up their pace or else the 4th position will be lost. We are now going to A1 Ring which suited McLaren the last 3 years.

Definitely not optimistic on that one.

Will get swallowed on the straights.

Agree, that was me feeling too, would have likely passed anyway. Such a shame, as Lando drove an excellent race to keep Alonso at bay up until that point. At least we're competing with them after their upgrades, 4th definitely still on the cards.

Could have been 4th, though without the SC perez putting likely would have got back to 4th. So 6th instead of 5th. But, a solid race.

I’ve spent the weekend at Stowe and I can’t emphasise enough how much that corner showed a difference between Lando and Danny this weekend. The best way I can describe it is “instinctive”- Norris just took more speed into the corner and seems to trust the car will stop - Danny looked like he searching for and was very much within the limit.

I’ve always loved Danny Ricc and want so much for him to come good at McLaren, but he just seems to be searching at the moment.
