absolutely unbelieveable
should just DSQ teams failing it now
Let’s hope someone protests at the next couple of races. Allowing teams 4 races and nearly 2 months to “fix” an a potential contravention of the regulations is ridiculous in my mind.
Its a plank of wood, what exactly takes time to resolve that.
It’s not exactly the first time the FIA have given a particular team several races to fix a problem either.
This is the game that's always been played in F1 - cat and mouse between the teams and the FIA.
Yes, but problem is in FIA inconsistency. They allow some, while ban other...
If you've followed F1 for long enough (I've been watching since the late 80's but really got into the
sport in 1992) then you know this is how the FIA operates. They aren't going to change and the teams won't stop trying to find loopholes in the rules they can exploit to gain performance. If Red Bull and Ferrari are the teams that have gone against what the FIA intended then they can't really complain when the FIA shuts the loophole down. It should actually make for a more interesting second half of the season if the flexi planks have given teams a significant advantage over the rest and that is taken away. If it equalises performance ? Then it's down to whichever driver can string enough wins and podiums together to win the drivers title.

Fix a problem, yes. Not fix a work around for ignoring a rule.
I suspect Redbull (and likely Ferrari) have said something to the FIA along the lines of:
"Ok you caught us, but this is fundamental to our concept and a change is not easy. Allow us more time and we will just go along with this and not kick up a fuss"
What will be interesting is the excuse these teams use when they are much slower. They will never admit it, just like when Ferrari lost the illegal engine trick a few years ago and even though they were suddenly 100bhp down or something, kept saying the engine was unchanged.
Likely put down to the “EXTREME” over spend that other teams will have done or that the extra 4million on the cost cap will have been spent on development rather than being there as the inflation buffer that nice kind redbull helped secure
im surprised that the plank isnt a spec part that is given to the teams especially if its a legality tool.
right now ferrari and rb are running their own bespoke 2 piece plank which could be the source of the controversy.
they should all have the same single plank.

Very surprising to read that also , i thought from the introduction of the plank it was a spec also coming from the fia itself ?
