well, the black stuff doesn't get there because it doesn't touch the black track surface underneath...

Grind some wood over a black rubbery surface and see if is will be black afterwards or stays the same as it was. .

Good point, I forgot the rubber. I was thinking the black was more dirt and dust and the lighter areas are effectively sanded down by the track.

Edit: I'm trying to find pics from the high rake cars to see what that looks like and Google is completely failing me!

The black parts is where the plank is still thicker and the yellow area (mostly on the sides) is the area with the most wear. On the first look there is nothing strange to see in terms of legality.

My vote would be with AR3, that the black is some lubricant/liquid it's picked up off the circuit.

The metal skid plate that grinds the track to dust, like a piece of flint being struck, probably singes and sticks to the plank. Did you see the last two corners and turn 1?

You could have moved the side/off topic race games discussion to the "Racing games" topic, but this one belongs here imo.
Without any further discussions about the 3D model. Therefore they can go to the other thread.

As I said in one of the posts that have been moved, it would be interesting to see some CFD on that model if it is accurate enough. Detail seems very high even though I am not sure if the modeller had access to actual RB CAD data.

I wonder what part of the floor they're upgrading for France. To me, the strakes, although very efficient, may be giving up a bit of ultimate performance. They're relatively straight and only curve outwards near the trailing edge, perhaps to start the strake vortex as far back on the floor as possible?
