A pretty dull race overall. Nando and is fast start just got them ahead and it was hard to keep up. Too much tyre management.
Still think it's close between the macca and the Alpine.
Definitely lost downforce and therefore lap time because of that
It was the front brake duct aero fairings… Most probably his own… How it dislodged / broke and when no idea
Daniel results are disappointing, no doubt. However I don't think that the root cause of the performace of MCL36 is the budget allocated for RIC even if the expectations were different. In my opinion the gap with RIC demonstrad that Mclaren has one of the best talent in F1.Swed3121 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2022, 16:43Lovely job by Daniel, his usual 3-4 tenths of lando throughout the weekend and made even better this time round by costing us 4th in the WDC
If Daniel could at some point this season remember he isn’t in a formula 2 car , we might be able to fight Alpine for 4th.
I absolutely cannot wait for the day that Ricciardo is fired from McLaren. No matter how much he brings in in sponsorship, it cannot possibly be worth loosing 3rd in 2021 and now loosing 4th in 2022.
What an absolute joke of a driver he has become. At this point, just fire him now and rotate whoever wants to have go for some money through the car because they cannot possibly be worse than the Aussie currently in it.
(Lando says) Ah, I thought something didn't feel right.
Thank you!SmallSoldier wrote: ↑25 Jul 2022, 01:28The winglets from the front brake ducts… Most probably from his car and not picked up from someone else

Unfortunately I agree. Lando is one of the best at this point and is embarrassing Ricciardo nearly every race. 3-4 tenths is massive. Don't like to have too much of negative attitude towards over all finishing position at the end of this season, but really there's not much point in celebrating or hoping for 4th or 5th in the constructors championship. Doesn't really matter anymore, we are cheering for a team that has been midfield for nearly a decade. McLaren will only win championships again if small miracle occurs. The sooner the new wind tunnel is operational the better but it will never be enough. F1 is in a sad place.Swed3121 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2022, 16:43Lovely job by Daniel, his usual 3-4 tenths of lando throughout the weekend and made even better this time round by costing us 4th in the WDC

I don't think I agree with that.Mclarensenna wrote: ↑25 Jul 2022, 04:10Until McLaren realizes that they are going down the wrong path with their car design they won't become front of grid challengers.
Lando's great driving is doing McLaren a disservice, his brilliant performances have masked fundamental design errors that are limiting the team's performance ceiling.
Rarely in F1 is it good to have a car that behaves fundamentally differently to all the others.
McLaren aren't seeing Ricciardo's poor performances as the warning sign they are.
He's a 'known quantity', we've seen him against the best of the other drivers and if one of the best of the current drivers can't deliver within half a second of your other driver than either Lando is literally the best driver in F1 by an impossibly wide margin or their car is fundamentally flawed.
Lando is great, don't get me wrong, but as good as he is he's not 4-5 tenths per lap quicker than Max, which is what a 6 tenth lead over Ricciardo would signify.
Like previous reply i put. People forget Ric demolished Vettel in his own car with 3 wins to zero. They also forget he beat Max the 1st 2 years and the 3rd year he was ahead by points at the halfway mark with 2 wins. Max ended up beating Ric but only due to the fact Ric had 8 retirements that zero were his fault vs Max with 2 retirements not his fault, . Most agree Max is the fastest on the grid. Most would agree Max would easily beat Norris at redbull with many saying he would get Gasl'd next to Max let alone be half a second quicker than Max.Swed3121 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2022, 16:43Lovely job by Daniel, his usual 3-4 tenths of lando throughout the weekend and made even better this time round by costing us 4th in the WDC
