People talking about the drivers these days reminds me of being a kid and comparing dads with my friends, and saying things like ‘my dad could lift this entire house with his bare hands’ and my friend rebutting by saying ‘my dad could lift the entire town!’ It’s as if, for you to be a fan of someone, they can only be the absolute best, most flawless, GOAT, etc. people can’t seem to accept that Charles made a mistake because they feel that somehow diminishes him… he is a human. He made a mistake. It’s not the end of the world, and it’s not the end of his career.
I vividly remember people saying the same things about Schumi. Spa 2005 springs to mind (it wasn’t particularly memorable but it was the first race I ever watched of my own volition so it’s stuck with me). He crashed with Sato and people immediately said he’s too old, he should have bowed out on the high of 2004, etc. people have said it about Hamilton - as recently as Imola last year. Of Alonso before his return to F1, then for many races while he got up to speed again in those first few races. Everything is not black or white; good or bad. Best or worst. Charles is a fantastic driver and imo a generational talent. He’s made a few mistakes, as they all have. The end.
Guess what? None of them are perfect. People need to learn to take the good with the bad and get tf over it.
This is a great season for Ferrari in so many ways, but somehow I miss racing in the midfield. It was so much less exhausting on this forum, on twitter, etc.
