Would the drag penalty be minimal because it also stops some of the spillover from the mainplane

It seems to me like a simple "dirty air generator" producing some turbulent flow and vortices. In principle what was done before with a lot of edges and corners, the drag penalty should be similar.
The issue for me is, that this is against the spirit of the rules, the current rules clearly want to reduce this dirty air generation.

Davidson saying on the Sky broadcast that on Friday the teams can be running 15kg extra of sensors, cabling, recorders etc.

They’re doing many laps, but not proper long runs. They’ve been doing fast laps with DRS, then cool down laps, repeat.
