I can't follow any of that reasoning... The primary factor you encounter when dealing with full throttle % is downforce, you have a more stable car to take fast corners and can keep it down more, furthermore you need more throttle to get to even similar top speed. Look at RPM to see the engine mode.

For me the anomaly is redbull… they’ve carried less downforce all season, and their s2 seems to suggest they’ve done the same thus far this weekend - but have highest % at full throttle. They have added more DF to their car via dirty downforce (wing), but their car simply produces less downforce overall than the Ferrari, has done so since the start of the season (I've been saying this since then).

As I wrote in the thread after France, they are forced to run lower downforce packages because their car doesn't generate enough efficient DF to go the other route. They are great in that they designed suspension and chassis that can support that well, but on heavy DF tracks they are at a disadvantage, they know that as well.

Austria trough Singapore are all Sainz tracks based on previous results so he should be close to LEC regardless if LEC is down or not. Hungary is one of LECs weakest tracks...

Right on but keep in mind that LEC is a relatively new driver and still developing. Also, I think this is the first F1 car that seems to suit his driving style, so maybe past performance isn't that great of indicator for him specifically, but so far the two tracks Sainz did very well against him last year, Austria and France, were both very close this year as well so..

Shame we get a wet qualy tomorrow, I really wanted to see how they stack up here.

Agree. I don’t like rain so much in quali either because conditions change rapidly in degrees of wetness and it just comes down to the luck of being on the track at the right moment with the right tires, which just isn’t fair for everybody.

I’ve been impressed with Sainz increasing speed. Glad to see him stepping up. Was surprised Leclerc blinked last week. First chink in the armor is duly noted.

Looking forward to the duel between the Merc pair this weekend. W13 in the rain should be interesting considering how loose the car was today...wow.

Why? Is that important. I think being neutral is very valuable to judge grid positions and developments.

In terms of racecar development, credit where it is due, Ferrari have paid equal attention to engine, suspension and aero to put them where they are.
A couple more areas to fix and voila!

Weird that they would ask them to do this during FP ... unless they had no intention to run early in the session anyways (and he did just get out of the car)

The FIA probably compares the 3D scan with the provided CAD data ... ?
