On closer inspection I think you are correct. The newer photo is slightly out of focus which makes the blend look smoother than it is.
Without a doubt there is a difference. Not sure if I'm seeing things, but to me it looks like the nosecone is shorter. Not sure if that is the case, or even if that was the case in France.

It's an odd little change though, I wonder what affect that will have.
