He drove so fast that even a spin wasnt too big of a deal for the outcome.
It demonstrates the advantage, it shouldn’t be that easy.

RedBull was for sure the fastest car, and you're right, had the weekend been normal it would have been a Redbull 1-2 at the end of the day.
Max's RB was a rocketship today.

Usually its Ferrari who have a rocketship car.

With nothing strange happening in the race and qualifying I think it would have been:

Max
Charles
Lewis

Which is good for the rest of the season, it shows the three teams as are somewhat converging on pace. Mercedes still a chunk behind of course, but maybe only 0.3 a lap now.

Had they put ham on softs at the start, he'd have won this race but alas, hindsight is a beautiful thing.
No he would not have won the race then.. Don’t confuse hope with reality. Besides Ferrari should have finished before both of the Mercedes cars, but they messed up as usual.
He would've cleared Norris easily at the start, or on the opening laps, likely the former.

That could've changed how the strategy played out at the front, which indeed could have prevented him from winning. He would've had the time needed to keep max behind after the first round of pit stops were done. And that would've been enough.

If it's any consolation for Ferrari fans, their pace on the soft were so bad they probably wouldn't have won anyway

Exactly. Lewis just ate chunks out of Carlo's times once he got the tyres up to temp. Looked like Carlos was on mediums rather than the softs. Yes, there was a tyre life difference, but even so, Lewis's lap times were way better than Carlos's
were at the same tyre life.

Wow! this Max is fast. P10 to win on a track that suits Ferrari and MercedesAMGF1.
I do not think this result was in anybody's idea since yesterday. Many was relieved yesterday, but it was too short-lived!

Champions drive from Lewis in the 3rd fastest car and a sub optimal strategy.

Max did what we expect in the best car, a team mate who moves out the way and starting on the softs which was the best strategy today. He did make a mistake and spin on track though so not quite a Champions drive but still a solid drive.

Ferrari are just terrible on strategy as usual.
Yeah, Lewis would win if he had better strategy, for example Ferrari's. :wtf:

After the mid point of the season, with the car advantage that Ferrari had over Mercedes. They only find themselves 30 points ahead. If the carry on this way they will find themselves P3 with the second best car.

Carlos was slow on every stint, it doesn't mean much saying he failed to make progress with the soft.

Even Russell acknowledged in the driver pen Leclerc's misfortunes. Binotto will be looking for a job if he doesn't sort his strategy team

In complete hindsight and after seeing everything, I hope people are not too harsh on Ferrari's strategy team for today specifically because there was not really anything they could have done. The only thing you could really fault them for was either starting on Mediums or pitting Leclerc again for Softs at the end

Even Leclerc was not having blistering pace on the Softs, compared to what Hamilton was able to do on them
