Good work by Merc this weekend, except for the very costly DRS issue: cost them their only win probably this season.
Toto's face said it all.
even Max's troubles in quali could not gift them a win?

They took advantage of the Ferrari strategy blunder though ;)

Shows the dominance of that car

The usual suspects coming to the Merc thread after a race to spit their venom. It’s getting really old.

The driver's championship is long gone, but the constructors is still possible if they keep beating Perez. After that will be cries of Mercedes having the best car!

Another L for the sofa experts and their theories of lower DF/worse tyre wear.
The thing is the car never had lower downforce to begin with. People were saying this, and it was not the case. Zero evidence from the team saying this.

The team were expecting rain. No sacrifice for "qualy setup with a low downforce car to heat tyres quickly and have poor deg" was made at all. The team just ran a normal weekend.

All that happened is they understood the car more; possibly the suspension settings. It's an L for the naysayers regarding the sidepods, and the "sidepods are draggy bregade".
For Sure!!

The gap remains around 126 points atm (while beating Perez as max cruises from victory to victory in the Neweyrocket), so beating Ferrari is the aim for 2nd half as both titles are long gone. AND Merc is still not on top of their car yet.

b.. b.. but .. but zero pods and front tyre wake!!!

I am glad the team has turned things around somewhat without making much drastic changes.
The car seems to go well enough compared to ferrari.
It also overtook a ferrari today. So much much for low top speed.

However this could be a false dawn, becuase the key difference was traction. Ferrari were disadvantaged today because of the track temperatures. They would have sure run better with the tyres in the window.

So lets see how the next race goes.
For Sure!!

I would like to think that is right, but I can not help but think they accidently lucked into a setup that worked.

They went from almost undrivable to pole without seeming to pass through stages between.

Never mind, they all count, but I just hope someone made notes on how it was set up and passed them back to the factory for study.

Yes! and well done to the team RB for great work done leading into 2022 season! taking that honour of "dominant car" away from MercedesAMGF1 team!.
And also well done to MercedesAMGF1 team for grounding themselves again and grafting their way back.
They will end second in WCC.

You know both Newey and Marko have been quoted as saying they had the best car last year.
Also FIA data analytics have also agreed.

That’s actually exactly how it works. They have dedicated booklets recording every setup parameter, down to the most minute detail, for every aspect of the car.

They aren’t in the garage blindfolded changing stuff around saying “let’s give this a shot.” :D

Toto said everything is easier for max this year now that he is in the fastest car. Saying/ implying merc was the fastest last year. Newey was just giving a compliment to his engineers, but he knew better

That's why I said I hope someone copied it. They will not have the past data for this car or tyres.
The issue now is if they can use it to advantage at other venues alongside the existing notes.
