Ricciardo will be ‘a good option’
It’s gonna happen, Ric back to Renault and Piastri to Mclaren

Just a bit too much rumours involving Piastri and McLaren to ignore them. Tells me that despite the messages Andreas en Zak spread lately regarding the position of Daniel, they are not completely sure of him and do want to have a plan B. Of course this does not mean Daniel will definitely be replaced, but he needs to step up.
As mentioned in posts above, its no surprise McLaren have been evaluating options, all teams do regularly, but the decision remains with Daniel. McLaren have confirmed this.BosF1 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2022, 14:25Alpine surprise over Fernando Alonso switch to Aston Martinthe EDGE wrote: ↑02 Aug 2022, 13:05Yep… if it’s on Twitter it must be true!BosF1 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2022, 12:49Where there is smoke...

Sure, Dan choosing to go back to Alpine is now an option for him, where as previously he didn't really have any options, however only time will tell what he decides
Right now, the only fact is that with Seb retiring there is a vacant seat somewhere on the grid, all else is speculation. Sounds like even Alpine don't have a clue what's going on... so how the hell would some F1 Journo's know?
One thing we are better with this year...𝗣𝗶𝘁-𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟯 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 (in Seconds)
Red Bull Racing: 2.91
Mclaren: 3.08
Mercedes: 3.34
Alpine: 3.41
Williams: 3.42
Alpha Tauri: 3.46
Aston Martin: 3.47
Ferrari: 3.83
Alfa Romeo: 4.5
Haas: 5.12
They would have to buy out Daniel's (large) contract and apparently Oscar's Alpine contact as well! In addition to which Pato / Herta etc would lose interest if McLaren's two seats are blocked by young drivers. Not sure if the prize money going up one position in the championship would offset all of thatCaribouBread wrote: ↑02 Aug 2022, 14:47

Never say never
Well, if Scott Mitchell is to be believed, Alpine aren’t exactly in the drivers seat in this one. I also see McLaren taking on the young IndyCar drivers as a help to his pal Andretti. Get them ready for F1, give them seat testing time, while Andretti pushes for his team, then loan them to Andretti IF he’s successful in getting the green light for his team?basti313 wrote: ↑02 Aug 2022, 16:29I still do not see how this is ending up. They have the whole US gang, test them in the F1 car and now add another youngster? McLaren collecting drivers like others collect sneakers?
They collected now the best young drivers in Indy car. Ok, maybe by allowing them to get practice in F1, not necessarily a seat. But I still see no reason why Alpine should take Ric if McLaren wants to ditch him for a youngster.
