If nothing else, there are probably only ever going to be 10 teams he will have to deal with, and probably not 4 of those, so would a short phone call have been such a tremendous hardship?
This could come back and bite him several years in the future. As you say, probably ill advised.
If Piastri is as talented as his resume indicates, this episode will not matter for his future… Talent / Speed tramples almost anything in F1… If he is fast, most teams would want him in their team regardless of how this situation with Alpine pans out.

Was going to say the exact same. If he lives up to his billing then nobody is just going to discard off his services if they become available. It’s a ruthless business and only the result matters mostly

If Alonso was average his career probably would’ve ended ages ago. But he’s not, because teams know that he brings 100% regardless of everything else.

Alonso very slow even with toe from ocon. Is he had any issue. Or ocon too fast due to new engine.

Only thing that matters is what's in the contract. You think it was good for Albon's carreer to after a year at RedBull, being kicked to the side and then sit for another year ?
Albon got to drive in F1 straight out of F2, and got promoted to Red Bull Racing within six months, from which he scored multiple podiums. According to Alpine's plan, at the same point Piastri has not even driven FP1, when Albon was already promoted to RBR.

By the time Albon had multiple podiums and was then benched by RBR, Alpine would be looking to take Alonso's option and have Piastri take an option for a 2nd Williams year. Multiple podiums at the end of year 2 vs not even driving for the actual team yet at the end of year 2 according to Alpine's plan and every intention to renew Alonso for 2024 -- quite a big difference!

Exactly… Not only will it not matter in a couple of seasons… There are so many different ways to spin it if necessary later on :)

On the other hand, the reality is that we’ve only had one side of the situation not only been vocal about it, but also acting like an scorned ex girlfriend and doing a pity show on the media… But this is Otmar’s actions not the team’s… If I were Alpine, I would hire him a PR Team and muzzle him.

Has there been any statements from Williams that they offer a seat to Piastri… As a matter of fact, is there even an statement from Alpine that he had a seat at Williams? Or is it one of those speculations that are repeated so often that we then take them as facts?

Now that this saga has aged, do people still despise Alpine for their position that Piastri has no loyalty?
No despise for Alpine… Otmar though? Completely different question…
People will dispise Alpine fore saying that and other people will dispise Piastri for trying to leave. What does that change ?

The Loyality thing is true about Piastri, who cares? He's doing what he thinks is best for himself. If you care, you're naive.

I was just answering the question…

I agree regarding Piastri… The loyalty thing for me is way overplayed, there is no “loyalty” in F1… Not from the Teams or from the Drivers… Both are going to do what is best for them, regardless of the other party… It’s a business, where at the end of the day money, results and contracts are all that matter.

Alpine talks like if they rescued Piastri from obscurity and made him who he is today… His talent is what made that happen… At the end, we will find out what happens next week and what the contracts actually say… And if Alpine can keep Piastri, they will and Piastri will be ultimately happy to race for them… (Just as they would be happy to have Daniel back, even though he slapped them in the face a couple of seasons ago… Or how McLaren was happy to have Alonso back after he left them in very bad terms)… That’s why Otmar is in my opinion is damaging Alpine, he is now talking about the individual (saying that Piastri lacks integrity) instead of simply discussing the contract / situation or better yet simply staying quiet until things are resolved at the CRB

My point was he had a contract. RBR wanted him to sit, he sat. You keep thinking that how they treat him matters. The only thing that matters is his contract. If Piaststri's contract says he drives for Alpine in 2023 and nowhere else, he will drive or sit for Alpine in 2023. If it says he will do whatever Alpine says untill 2030, they can make him sit till 2030. No matter how emotional you get, it doesn't change the contract. If it doesn't, he'll go whereever he wants.

Maybe a fresh engine difference. Alonso towed Ocon as well in his first Q2 and Q3 runs I guess.

I suspect RBR would have been more than happy to see Alex Albon find another drive in 2021 actually. :) They actively helped Albon to pursue the 2022 Williams, where Alpine made little effort to have Piastri secure the 2022 Williams.

As to the other points, yes it will be very interesting to see what the CRB says, do Alpine have a binding contract, a contract that has lapsed or even a non-binding Heads of Terms agreement (as they mentioned previously the November agreement to be only a Heads of Terms and not a contract)? :?:
[Szafnauer ] said Piastri had signed a heads of terms agreement with Alpine in November last year which set out the path to a 2023 race debut.

doudt it, Alonso has 5 PUs to choose from, including the one from the 2nd race of the year that the FIA reg change allowed them, to open the PU up to change the water pump.

Ocon was faster in sector 3.
