When he gets DRS, his overspeed will be something like 25-30km/h on a rival without DRS. He is already 10-12km/h up on Ferrari/Merc when all use DRS. To have such a top speed advantage and still be quickest in S2 is remarkable. They must be doing something very clever with the DRS. It's like it stalls the entire car.

I posted this before. He has the new ERS system. Why else would they take a new PU this weekend?! Read what Marko said.
Horner also said that without it, they would have enough PU's in the pool for the rest of the saison.

Nothing is mentioned about the new spec ERS. Only that with the current extra PU elements they can take Max to the end of the season. He has taken these before the hom deadline so they can very well be current spec. just to be safe. He doesn't have to take them this year. Only 1 RBPT car has to according to the rules.

With that top speed Max will probably be top 3 after 10 laps, than cruise to p1 if the others make a pitstop.

Look at the RB18 thread to see the difference between max and sergio's floor. Could be that the floor max is running now wasn't ready in time for Spa on Perez's car; if that's the case maybe he'll get it in a race later on this season eg Monza or Zandvoort

I thought it was Perez that got the updated floor?
the "updated" floor with the ferrari cutout was first seen at silverstone. It's not new

It was first run at silverstone on friday by Verstappen & both cars on the sunday. Both cars had it at Austria, then neither at Hungary & France.

Now it's back but only on Perez's car

Even if journalists/outlets report it's an upgrade, that's not necessarily the case

Teams have to introduce the upgrade into at least one car by the first event AFTER the deadline which is Monza.

If all the cars would have to take a penalty then they have until 5 events after the deadline to introduce it into one car.

All RBPT cars would have to take a penalty so they technically have until COTA to introduce the upgrade into one car.

Edit:

4.3 In order to be registered, a specification upgrade must be used by at least one car powered by the Power Unit Manufacturer no later than:

• the first Event following the deadline specified in the second table of Appendix 3 of the Technical Regulations if at least one car would incur no penalty under art. 28.3 of the Sporting Regulations.

• the fifth Event following the deadline specified in the second table of Appendix 3 of the Technical Regulations if all cars would incur a penalty under art. 28.3 of the Sporting Regulations.

The qualifying defeat at Spa-Francorchamps must give Ferrari something to think about. Red Bull came out of the summer break in top form and dropped Ferrari by six tenths. Now explanations are sought. There are many theories, but which one is correct?

In the first 13 races of the season, Red Bull and Ferrari were neck and neck. "On average, a tenth separates us. The upgrades that both teams brought to Belgium didn't change that. Ferrari new wings, Red Bull modified sidepods and re-covered wishbones on the rear axle. Nothing has changed in terms of vehicle weight either. Red Bull did not have their lightweight chassis at the start, which should bring two to three tenths on the clock.

Ferrari pointed out that the distance only to Verstappen fell out of line. And the world champion drove on his home track as if from another planet.
