Seems like a power struggle. Horner etc want to remain independent of outside control
I don't see a reason why RB would submit to any OEM's takeover, then being at the mercy of their board 1000 miles away (remember mercedes f1 team almost got screwed by management back in 2012 but Toto managed to save the team in the end, kudos to him). This is not a sabuer/audi situation when any investment is seen as a godsent from racing teams perspective, if it's from a car company like audi then all the better. With budget cap in effect RB have got so much money left in hand they can now afford to run their own engine division and with the popularity of F1 on the rise any sponsorship deals will become more and more beneficial to the bottom line.
That 50/50 deal with porsche seemed weird from the start. I'd be amazed if it goes trough.
