I think they know what they're missing, it's why they're preparing correlation runs for the new tunnel....

190grammes vs likely 0.5g for a bit of sticker.

Logical when you want to be light as possible.
yeah but you can use it as Ballast! move it around!
lol

I don't like it in the Helmet, it looks like Advertising Hoarding and it is cheap (in my opinion).

On the car it is OK and it is adding weight. But given that it is "Powered by Android" I suspect it was part of the Google deal. I'd be surprised if that was not a small deal and having Google onboard I'm sure will be pretty beneficial, so I suppose the .19 of a Kilogram is worth it.

Errrr, am I reading way to much into this and thinking they are using their correlation runs to test this years car and compare the results v track and v Cologne?

Can they do that and does that count towards our normal Wind Tunnel hours?

This years final sidepod change was to open up future avenues and alter the car so they can test ideas for next year, did they sacrifice an outright performance boosting change to create a package that could utilise early tunnel time in the new tunnel and help develop next years car?

The comparison runs from Cologne were finished ages ago, of course there's going to be ongoing data from it but it's more about the characteristics of the actual tunnel vs references than the car - you'd not know if your changed data was due to better results or issues otherwise.

This years final package was mainly to collect data early this year to refine for next year though, yes, there's more small test parts coming for the same reason.

It's the begginning, it's only a problem if your car is over weight. Once they get the cars significantly below limit it will not be a big deal and they'll probably make it lighter.

Some people get up in arms about the smallest thing.

Does that mean the new tunnel is calibrated and ready to go?

There won't be anything meaningful coming out of the tunnel for about half a year yet, as was said before.

so I assume its close to construction completion right... they would start the correlation phase around dec, jan?

The wind tunnels have to be nominated and then are the only tunnel you can use for 12 months.

Mclaren will not be able to use their tunnel until the new period.

Yes I’m aware, but I’m sure they can still achieve correlation in the new tunnel.. + the consensus from a lot of articles suggest closing the gap in 2024, I don’t see how that’s possible unless they have access to the tunnel in 2023, maybe the nomination date is earlier? Or something else…
