Max struggled with understeer in low speed after team made adjustments in fp1. So bad max suggested there must be something wrong with the car
He wasn't the only one, several drivers seemed to!

They tried two very different things (I think). He did his first laps quite early, and was fast. Then stayed in very long and did his second 2 hotlaps at the very end. The shielded off the car during that time too.

Max has swapped onto the medium downforce wing for fp1. Not too surprising given it was also used at Zandvoort

Given that most of the downforce is coming from the floor, the difference in rear wing spec is surely just fine tuning?

Ferrari attributed their Saudi loss to "choosing the wrong rear wing" so I would still believe it is a significant decision.

The old cars produced most of their downforce from the floor too (though less than the '22 cars). Important part is that a disproportionately large amount of drag comes from the rear wing but the df it produces is still essential for laptime up to a certain amount of drag (for a given circuit)

No presents for Sergio Perez
In addition, the constructors' championship has yet to be bought in. Verstappen: “That's what we're going for now. We don't need many points for that anymore. We are trying to bring it in here.” The battle for second place in the drivers' championship is still open. Between Sergio Perez and Charles Leclercis only one point, in favor of the Mexican. However, Verstappen is not going to give any victories to his teammate. “He knows what he has to do to be second in the standings. He just has to keep finishing in front of Charles. As a team, of course, we always try to finish first and second, but as a driver I would like to win more races," said Verstappen. If it happens next week in Mexico that Verstappen takes the lead with one lap to go and Perez is second, then there is no doubt about how the race will end for the Limburger: "Then I will win."
That settles that - no presents

"I experienced in Zandvoort what that brings. I want to experience that too, but it won't be easy. The pressure is huge and the crowd almost demands that you win. But Max will surely try to help me (win) if the opportunity presents itself. I have no doubt he will support me."

Drivers say what they think in the moment. Things can change on the final lap. I wonder if RB will give Max another PU in Mexico...

More likely to go for the fastest lap if hes leading and Checo is 2nd IMHO.

If I was Perez there’s just no way I’d want to be handed a victory in that manner. I’d make it very clear to the team and Max as well.

True. I guess this depends how much Perez wants the #2 in the title. He has a good chance to put points on Charles with Charles starting from the back.

I wouldn't think of it that way. It can easily be reviewed as returning the favor for several key races across both seasons where Perez really supported Verstappen and/or the team result.

I also think most drivers will say one thing publically (I wouldn't want to win that way), but in private they really couldn't care less how it's won and there are several examples across the last 2 decades to support that

Considering the reports are from AMuS, I would now take this rumour as more serious

RIP Mateschitz
