so I assume its close to construction completion right... they would start the correlation phase around dec, jan?
The wind tunnels have to be nominated and then are the only tunnel you can use for 12 months.

Mclaren will not be able to use their tunnel until the new period.
Yes I’m aware, but I’m sure they can still achieve correlation in the new tunnel.. + the consensus from a lot of articles suggest closing the gap in 2024, I don’t see how that’s possible unless they have access to the tunnel in 2023, maybe the nomination date is earlier? Or something else…
I suspect that the runs for Pato, Alex, Colton, etc in the previous generation car was in order to work on calibration / correlation of both the Wind Tunnel and the Simulator

Whilst I'm not sure exactly when the 12 month period starts, it could be from September meaning that from September '23 it would be online for Mclaren. This would mean some of the 2024 car would develop in the new tunnel and a small amount of 2023 in season development.

But it could be one or two months later. But around that time.

yeah but you can use it as Ballast! move it around!
lol

I don't like it in the Helmet, it looks like Advertising Hoarding and it is cheap (in my opinion).

On the car it is OK and it is adding weight. But given that it is "Powered by Android" I suspect it was part of the Google deal. I'd be surprised if that was not a small deal and having Google onboard I'm sure will be pretty beneficial, so I suppose the .19 of a Kilogram is worth it.
It's the begginning, it's only a problem if your car is over weight. Once they get the cars significantly below limit it will not be a big deal and they'll probably make it lighter.

Some people get up in arms about the smallest thing.
The removal of paint may have been done in advance of adding the display in order to create room for the additional weight.

If there was anything to get up in arms about its just that Google never looks quite that slick and on an F1 car that stands out.

I remember that in 2020, they were not allowed to work on the 2022 cars till Jan 1 2021. So I would say the 12 month period starts Jan 1.

Also you sure it's 12 month? I believe wind tunnel time gets reevaluate twice a year. It is based on where you are in the constructors at the end of the season and mid season. If you move up in by the middle of the season, your wind tunnel time will be cut or viseversa. I guess you could be forced to stay in one wind tunnel for 12 month but still reevaluate tunnel time twice a year.

Yes it's 12 months rolling and the request for the nominated wind tunnel came in the month of September 2015 and had to be made before 1st of Jan. So it can start at any time in this period think. Since the team said that some of the 24 car will be developed in the new tunnel i suspect it will be October. Current rule:

RWTT may only be carried out in wind tunnels which have been nominated by the
Competitor to the FIA. Each Competitor may nominate only one wind tunnel for use in
any one twelve month period and declare it in writing to the FIA. For a new entrant, the
nomination must be made no later than 7 days after the date on which it officially
becomes a Competitor. No re-nominations may be made for at least 12 months.
Nominations should include the facility location, unique identification of the wind tunnel
and the scale of model and RATG to be used. The FIA will consider, at its absolute
discretion, earlier or temporary nominations if a wind tunnel already nominated by a
Competitor suffers a long term failure or for the purpose of evaluating alternative wind
tunnels. If a different facility is to be used or if the existing facility is changed or upgraded,
other than for routine maintenance or replacement, then a new declaration must be
submitted to the FIA within one month of the change or at the time of submission of a
testing period report whichever is earlier.

Great lap by Lando! Not bad to be close to Alonso’s time… Missed opportunity for the Team with Ocon not making it to Q2 and Alonso’s 5 grid penalty tomorrow… Don’t think Daniel will be able to do much from P17 tomorrow, but hopefully he will keep Ocon behind him at a minimum.

Apparently they used their soft tires during practice to save some Mediums / Hards for the race

They might be saving a new set for the race actually
yeah possible... this is their first time ever doing it.. Mercedes do this all the time, I dont understand why they don't do this more often
