Alfa Romeo C43

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So this is actually the real thing? Mirrors look small(ish)?

It's a weird detail how the cooling outlet of the sidepod is angled down in the last part, towards the beam wings

The render (pictures posted in the thread already) has the front wing that they brought at the end of 2022 so I'm inclined to think the render is an accurate representation of what the c43 will be

I really love what they’ve done with the ridges on the upper body work.

Also the upper edge of the beam wing looks interesting…

Wavy/jagged yeah. Maybe using some of the same effect that made those shark tooth diffusers effective under the previous aero regs

Or maybe the wavy upper BW trailing edge is something to do with shedding the hot air from the massive cannon exits efficiently..

A true Ferrari-Red Bull love child - and a livery to match it

Looks good, overall much more sensible approach on bodywork than last year. The devil will be in the floor perfromance though...

Wavy BW trailing edge

It's not just an image artifact, it's either artistic license by whoever was making the render or it's a feature

Its a feature, serrated edges prevent trailing edge separation and spanwise flow - while also slighlty reducing frontal area and thus reduce drag.

Did the FIA increase the floor edge height and accidentally move it into a less restricted zone? Or was this design just not worth it when you could instead get the floor edge to scrape the floor last year I wonder.

Also I don't think these are renders, look like studio shots as there's a few things like misaligned seatbelts, panel sinkages and uneven carbon weave. Hard to be 100% sure.

According to scarbs and the image he posted, it's not their first time they're up to these floor edge tricks
