Alfa Romeo C43

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Twitter tends to play those videos in potato quality instead of the best available, so here's a direct link to the 1080p version https://video.twimg.com/amplify_video/1 ... yGtSC3.mp4

It seems they copied the HAAS serrated front wing endplate leading edge #thetubercles, but they're a bit different

Am I seeing something else, or is that some sort of cylindrical nozzle coming out of the splitter with a opening on the tip. Presumably for the electronics stored in the inside ofc.
The front wing is interesting. With this S-shaped endplate they manage the vertical distribution of in and outwash in front of the tyre. The 2nd element chord is large while the 3rd and 4th chord is very short. This will make the 2nd element tip vortex structure dominant.

Was hoping to see the cheese grater floor in real life... disappointed.

The rear suspensión seems to me pretty much like the RB18 one, with the push arm placed forward the front top wishbone arm. I’m sure this is not the best for the mechanical point of view (bigger and heavier knukle, and more side forces in the arm) but is better for the aerodynamics.

It’s my appreciation or there is a big gap between the beam wing elements?

Same here, I agree!

I red somewhere it’s illegal which is why Sauber Motorsport didn’t use it! Not sure if it’s true

Low resolution, but a lot of outwash from the front wing… Thought they were clamping on it?

The car is beautiful and I'm glad they don't have the tyre destroying floor in reality

The rear of the engine cover reminds me of the acer ducts on the 2012 Ferrari. I wonder how coincidental that is - as in: are they wanting the hot engine air to exit onto the beam wing and using bodywork to get it there?

My non-expert understanding was that this air was too low energy to be helpful in ‘blowing’ the wing, but the shape of the bodywork seems like there’s an intentionality.

I agree it looks beautiful- I have to say it looks far more refined this season and gives me hope that this generation can indeed look (and be) that bit more nimbler!
