Red Bull RB19

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

There is a vertical slit in the diffuser of RB19 . I think it's to increase the efficiency of the diffuser.

I think that is a shadow, we had similar pictures from other cars last year.

It is really there, inside overlaps the outer panel. Laterally squirts air towards the rear tire.

I thought it was a shadow at first but I've now seen several photos with it present from different angles so it likely is there

Few interesting points here. Points out the flap of the RW is separated as is the lower element of the beamwing configuration. Also touches on how RB have delicately treated their sidepod undercut in the middle of the car

From this picture the 'slot' has a different shape to the previous image. It could still be a slot that could look different based on the angle, but I would find it more likely to be a shadow due to that

Seems like a shadow, in the picture the slot looks like is going upwards in the blue mark. Does not make much sense for me.

It’s real, it’s not a shadow.

I think it’s a big sign they are trying to expand the volume of the diffuser by bleeding out air and energizing the brake ducts and rear tire wake

Pretty clear to see there's no slot on the left hand side of the diffuser. This is an absolute red herring

If the slot is made like this, likely you won't be able to see it on the left side, need a picture looking at the back left of the car.
