Owkay, season's over: https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/182747/m ... r-now.html

So if this is true, then they've picked up where they left since AD.

Thank God they have the best driver in their ranks.

Shouldn't they test a smaller wing as well to measure the effects on the car?
Still running correlation and setup work, therefore you don’t want to make many changes while collecting data… Either tomorrow or during FP1 next week.

He confirms in the comments, like other cars. And other sources confirm, it will be closer to the red bull concept.

Toto Wolff getting asked by Sky Germany on why they kept the zero pod:

"The sidepods are only a small part of the performance. It's much more about weight transfer, suspensions & mechanical things. But we will also move in a direction that we might look a bit like the others."

How well connected is this guy in terms of insider info on this subject? Honestly I haven't heard of him before until just now

AMUS confirms it
Mercedes already ran an evolution of its side-pod concept in the wind tunnel.

On the first day of the test, Mercedes did not appear at the top speed list. Ferrari, on the other hand, ranked behind Red Bull. Mercedes pushes it onto the larger rear wing that you drive compared to the competition. It is said that a new wing is already in production for the start of the season. It should make the W14 faster on the straight. The question is whether the new Mercedes wing is also efficient enough, or whether you will lose in the corners for more top speed with less downforce.

So while the World Cup third from the previous year is postponing a few minor updates for the coming week, nothing new is to be expected from Red Bull. "The car we have during the test drives will also be at the start of the season," the engineers reveal. At least that's positive news for the competition.

The model has a modified sidepod. But it’s not a plan B, just an evaluation to see what is the most promising concept. It is also said that the concept is closer in design to Red Bull’s solution.

Until there is a quote from reliable sources it's difficult to treat anything as fact

And even when someone from a team says something, it must pass the usual "might they be lying?" scrutiny

This is not a plan B in the event that you can't get closer to Red Bull with the mini side boxes.
Simply evaluate what is the most promising concept.
