I think the most encoring about this car is . Felipe jumped in the driving seat on shot notice and he is doing great times. So i am really hopeful of this year agead
I've missed first few hours of morning session today, but how is second slower (on C5) than Ferrari (on C4) great time? :?

No new driver on short notice will be on top of times table if the car wasn’t easy to drive. So i see that as an encouraging sign that the car is not a dog

Drugo only had two chances to set a fast lap on the soft tire. The first one was with C4 and the second one was with C5 (his best lap) if I'm not mistaken. It was the first and only time he used these types of tires on this car. It's a bad lap time, but if he was 1s behind Ferrari, Alonso will likely be closer or better than Ferrari.

Quotes from Drugovich in the Brazilian press

"I feel prepared. Of course, every time I sit in the car I manage to find a little more time. Being prepared is different from saying I'm at Alonso's level. It's difficult to get there. But I'm improving every time I get in the car, so I feel prepared for a race"...

[On the lack of experience in long runs] "I wanted to know how the behavior would be if I had pushed harder, for example"...[And anyone who has done hundreds of simulations of this type has much more baggage to read and understand how to work with tires throughout a race]

"On the first day, most of the time I did aerodynamic tests. Today there were four trips to the track, plus an hour or so, doing this type of test. And then I could concentrate more on driving"...

"We managed to do the entire program. I did the complete race simulation, in three stints (that is, a race with two pit stops to change tires). I managed to have fun. I was able to do some exits with a configuration similar to that of qualifying."...

"We've seen Red Bull very fast, but we don't know if the other teams aren't 100% yet. It's difficult to understand that. The car certainly has a great evolution compared to last year, but there's still a lot of small things to get right."

"For now, I'm pretty calm. It's not up to me. What I could, I tried to do the best I could. And now it depends on Lance's recovery, to see if he can run or not. And if he doesn't run, it also depends on whether the team decides to put me in or not. I'll be on hold, prepared. And we'll see what happens."...

Is Alonso going to finish the first race? Fast but fragile?

Why? reliability is very good, only single issue on first day.

They seem to be having trouble this afternoon

Alonso back out on track with 1m32.017s on c3 then back in garage, maybe trying setups options.

4 tenths off Sainz with like-for-like tyre and roughly similar time of day. That's impressive

Any idea what reliability issues AM is facing? Hope nothing serious
Team has launched a revolutionary design(compared to last year) so these issues are expected. I would have been worried if team go thru testing without any niggles.

He had to pass a cruising sainz at turn 8 also. I wonder if he lost any time there.
Tv didn't show it but i saw on the driver tracker map that he had to pass sainz right upon turn 8.
Who knows..

As soon as possible, race pace data is needed to better understand. However, in one lap it still seems to pay 5 tenths (not knowing the fuel loads and the PU power)

Alonso just completed a race sim.
C3 16L (on 3 lap used tires)
C1 21L
C2 21L

It really looked very very good.
Alonso was staring the stints concretively for a few laps, then keep lowering his delta and being very very consistent.

IMO Sainz started a race sim a few laps after him, Trying C3 18L then C3orC2 8L then C1 9L and then it seemed to me like they aborted the sim. In all of Sainz stints it seemed to me that they had very very high degradation that ultimately made them abort the race sim. Their times where getting worst and worst, quite fast.

It looked to me, a very very good race sim.
I don't know how much fuel Ferrari where carrying, but it looked to me like AM (In Alonso hands) could be equal or faster than ferrari (In Sainz hands) in race pace next week.
