Exactly.
Whilst we should look forward to the Baku update it more than likely won’t see Mclaren jump to the front of which ever queue they are in as it’s always relative.

Hopefully this new development path is the start of a long evolution…. Hopefully it’s not the same as the Singapore 22 update which was ‘a view to the 23 season’ and look how that turned out🤦🏼‍♂️
Just a fan's point of view

McLaren will "need a lot more" than Baku F1 upgrade to fight for P4 - Norris

Not sure if I missed something, but there is no direct quote from Lando on what's being reported on that title. It's just a recycled article on the "car on Baku should have been car on Bahrain" comment made by Lando.

Is this upgrades based on the cars from the last race in ’22?

Interesting that it states we have a completely new design for the FW, many of our techie bods in the Tech Forum stated it was last years wing.

Indeed. I thought the end plates and main plane were different but haven’t seen comparison shots to confirm

McLaren don’t have TeamStream running…
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

I'm eager to see whether Zak Brown will start clearing the technical team or not. It's obvious that we are lack of grey matter. Needles to say that our facilities are not good enough.

Ooof the race pace on softs compared to the Bulls is painful to see. Might be 1 to 1.5s off per lap in race trim. (Obviously we don’t know fuel or engine modes)

It was around 3s off this time last year. And tbh that's inline with where McLaren were at the end of 2022.

Unless both Alpine and AM have made a big jump, McLaren should be at the same place they were at the end of last year in terms of pecking order.

Why is it though that Aston Martin attracted Dan Fallows and we did not? Binotto is out on the lose, but we are now waiting for him to go to Alpine? I am sure anyone would rather work for a legendary team like McLaren than for Daddy Stroll. Has the leadership put enough emphasis on attracting top personnel? I believe state-of-the-art facilities are important and I can’t wait for the team to start using them. But those facilities alone are not going to cut it when competitors use facilities that are of similar quality.

We're comparing race pace to Red Bull? We should focus on that very tight midfield.

KMAG faster by 0.2/0.3s on a few laps older tyre

Only reason I look for race pace to leaders is to see comparative gaps to last year

Isn't Dan Fallows Job taken at Mclaren by James Key? June 2021 it was agreed between the teams. Was their a job to offer him?

How does anyone know what Binotto wants, or what his arrangement is with leaving Ferrari.
