senna's pole

ive heard alot about one paticular pole position lap that senna did in monaco that was suppose to be the best pole lap ever!! any ideas wat year was it?

Well, he had a few poles in Monaco, but probably people refers to 1990.

Sorry, I forgot: the best pole of Ayrton (I do not know if it should be the best ever) in his own words, in Monaco, not in 1990 but in 1988:

'Even Senna confessed he occasionally went too far, as was the case in qualifying for the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix, where he became a passenger on a surreal ride into the unknown. Already on pole, he went faster and faster and was eventually over two seconds quicker than Prost in an identical McLaren. "Suddenly, it frightened me," Ayrton said, "because I realised I was well beyond my conscious understanding. Well, after what i read and heard, Senna is the biggest Monaco expert through all times! Up to this day. Although he didnt get of with a great start in his first Monaco race! I could be wrong though, but im pretty sure :D
