God, imagine the progress and freedom of doing stuff when they get their tunnel and everything else rolling… 🤯
Yes frightening isn’t it. It sounds like they want to develop their own rear suspension and gearbox, and that Honda may be on the cards.
^^^That is quite a jump!!^^^

TRegarding confidentiality concerns, if there were any noise around that, the FIA would be ‘all over it’; it would effectively circumvent the wind tunnel hours that Mercedes are limited to (in much the same way as Ferrari/Haas have to be separated).

Regarding simulations, given Mercedes issues last year (and maybe into this), who wouldn’t want to avoid using them!!?
Perspective - Understanding that sometimes the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

Not sure the Wind tunnel, but Aston has gained 2 sec with engine, back suspension, gear box from Mercedes and using the same Wind Tunnel (even if the reports of anterior posts are true or not) It really shows how lost Mercedes and their technical team is.

What it shows is how valuable whatever Dan Fallows brought over from Red Bull is.

Fallows' intrinsic understanding of the current rules, exploitable areas, and drag reduction is exactly what AM paid for. Glad to see an outside chance of a non-top team win this year.

Some interesting info from AMuS

https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... lyse-2023/
Aston Martin is only allowed to use the Mercedes wind tunnel on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and loses time when recalibrating. Aston Martin has already refrained from using the simulator and the competitor's analysis tools. It is better to be in a worse simulator than to rent somewhere.
They probably have a USB with a config file that they need to load, notice they don't mention how much time they loose. The likely have to save the config once their done and reset it back to vanilla state. Same probably happens when Merc go back in to use it. Doudt that Merc leave their calibrations lieing around for all too see.

They're making a big deal of this but I bet everyone that has wind tunnel leases it out when not in use and the have to do the same thing. I know McLaren talked about leasing their unused wind tunnel time to recover the investment once their wind tunnel is done. Again there, they'll save off their calibrations and reset to a vanilla state before a leasee would come in to use it.

we just had 1 race on 1 specific circuit..... before we start calling out favorites wait till after race 4 because then we have different kind of tracks behind us and know how each car behaves on these kind of circuits all over the season

Sure, but the excitement and anticipation is the real fun of this. Not the final outcome!

I wouldn't bet against AM. It's a fast car. People need to just get onboard with saying that out loud.

why should i say something out loud when i am not sure if its true.

As said it was only 1 specific circuit, lets wait and see what the next three races will bring

Car seems not the best at the speed traps, is it they are using a larger rear wing or as a whole car not efficient for long straights?

seems like i remember someone saying that efficiency being something they will be working on with upgrades, but i think its pretty hard to say at this point. im sure all teams are working on efficiency upgrades to be honest haha

I noticed when tracking Fernando's race run, that he was losing almost 4 tenths on average to Ocon in just sector 1. He was much slower than the other big teams in S1, I wonder if it's again the draggy car or the engine settings? I kind of assume the team have an issue with the car being a bit more draggy than they wish, hence why PDLR said the team expected to do even worse than they were showing in FP.
