would never happen
There are support races in F1 currently.

In places like Spa, there are two entirely seperate pits, in Silverstone, the redevelopment was going to result in two entirely different pits...

In Indy, there is enough room for 50 F1 cars.

Suzuka has two grids - does it have 2 pits?

While it would certainly be an issue, it is not insurmountable in some instances.

I think the main stumbling block would be the relatively poor deal it would present to the circuit owners.

They will more or less fill the circuit for a MotoGP weekend, and ditto for an F1 weekend. Why combine the two and half your net gate?

Of course, ticket prices could be jacked up to compensate, but that is somewhere I'd rather not go.

The FOTA teams' letter to FIA might look like a surrender. The letter agrees to budget capping, albeit calling it 'resource restriction'. But the fine print is more interesting. The policing will be done by the teams, not FIA. The cap will be set at $100M and will go down further in 2011.

It is not surprising that FIA virtually outright rejected this.

Mosley still says "We will shortly send a letter for signature to each team. If signed and returned, the letter will make the above proposals legally binding and the relevant team's entry unconditional."

This statement reiterates the stance that FIA took last weekend. Even though FIA continuously is sending out press releases, they have been rejecting all to the proposals of the teams. With this recent letter, the teams can actually say they agreed to budget capping, but are trying to make it gradual - protecting their workers and investments in the process. It is a very solid piece of paper that will protect Ferrari, Red Bull, and Torro Rosso at the courts if they have to split.

The FOTA have played a really good card.

It also reads cosworth will be running at 2006 spec engines. Surely there will be restriced on the revs or will they be allowed to run up to 20,000revs?

Here we have the teams offering Max a Final Solution. Ironic choice of words, eh? We really hope that someone gives Max a "final solution".

lola withdraws its entry.
the only way they could get into F1 is if the teams brake away.
Have the teams been offering new teams entry to there races.
for a company like lola it would be better to be associated with fearri engines than cosworth.

if they take some of the new teams from FIA then it will kill it off completely.
only 1 engine will be left - cosworth.
if you have 13 teams in the new series you still have 4 engines, i presume they can cut a deal that each will provide 3/4 teams with engines.

Also redbull wants rid of torra rosso so they can sell that to someone for a reasonable price

eh wishful thinking

If they did they wouldn't last 4 races. They wouldn't even last one... and forget about any decent set-up time running on Friday too.

I would like to thank FOTA.
Thank you FOTA for making the FIA yield possible.

Yeah thank you.. Instead of having 4WD, moveable wings and unlimited engine revs we will now have the same 2009 regulations.

Ah that's so kind of you FOTA when you speak about F1 DNA and "technical innovation" yes thank you really.

I'm completly baffled. Just because they want to win at all costs they'd rather compete under and even more restricted set of rule rather than let the innovation and technical freedom come back.

Thank you so..Now instead of having either 2009 rules with unlimited spending or budget cap with technical freedom we'll have both...the cap AND the 2009 rules!
So cool!

Thank you so much FOTA....in line with all the stupid compromise the manufacturers did so far.

And all those people waving at FOTA like if they were the holy defenders of "true racing".

Sight.

Exactly. We're getting both the alternatives at once which creates the worst possible regulations.

Come on FOTA, grow a pair and leave the midget and the sex offender. See how much they'll miss you really quickly.

Have you seen the FOTA logo? It's very odd.
It has four black blocks that look like bookshelf speakers between a paint brushed looking T...or is that a one? If the 4 black blocks stand for each letter of FOTA, that what is the paint brushed symbol in the middle?
Anyone understand their logo?

Well the four black blocks are supposed to be the tires of the racecar that the "T" is.
Butt ugly anyway.
