I notice at the start of Q2 Sprint qualifying, Verstappen drives out of the pits and after just 1 corner he throws away a tear off. Is this really necessary? It seems as if drivers use their tear offs as Mario Kart bananas. FIA should do something about this.

Like this…

Guess it’s not really necessary to try and play Mario kart games.

Verstappen throwing these quali sessions. Should have taken Lec with that mistake, but can't muster up one good lap in Q3. He just should have matched his first lap sector 1 time and it'd be his, instead loses 3 tenths.. :wtf:

Seems the tyres didnt fire up like yesterday. A lot of movement on the rear of the RB's through the twisties and the corners.

Wonder if the car is more balanced for race pace.

Nonsense. Just get on with it, these are the conditions at hand, same for everyone. Verstappen knows he mucked it on his first lap, I've checked his radio.

Crap session, which just felt like a repeat of yesterday really. It wasn’t more exciting. The only thing I like is the reduced time. If they reduced the time available in Q1/2/3 in the normal qualifying weekends, I’d just prefer that.

Anyway, fully expect a pretty conservative sprint race, with teams drivers waiting for tomorrow. I think Max knows he’s got the race pace, so is not overly bothered about pole, and therefore becomes a bit complacent. He didn’t need them last year, and won’t this year.

Actually make it a shoot out and embrace the "entertainment" of the sprint race. Everyone gets one lap on softs, sequence is set in reverse Championship order and minimum outlap prescribed. Each driver is released from the pits so that as one driver finishes their hotlap the next is starting theirs. just embrace the ridiculousness of the sprint race.

It's just all a bit pointless?

It either needs the link to the main race, like before. Or needs to be very different.

40 minutes running. Every 10 minutes, bottom 5 are removed. Use whatever tyres you want that you have.

No ending sessions.

King George has got a great chance in the sprint as he has a new set of softs, he couldn't could he?

Use the F2 rule set, single qualy, 10th place in qualy starts first, 9th... Now you have the Verstappens of the world having to make up ground in a hurry while having to go through guys like Hamilton, Alonso and Russell.
Doesn't affect the main race where they start in the order they qualified.
