Really scraping the barrel with these discussions. Russell now somehow able to beat Max in 21’, because he’s gone up the inside and taken a chunk of Max’s sidepod. My god.

What a woeful weekend this has been so far. Baku has extended until 2026 hasn’t it? Great.

George was fair.
Understeering into car ahead by doing a silly divebomb =/= fair. The only reason russell is half alongside is because he brakes too late.

I seriously think Russell would have got the better of Max in 2021 in that Mercedes, he knows how to race the Dutch driver.
Knowing how massive Mercedes advantage have been nearly all year...probably yes.

russell being dunked on by max on restart --> immediately finds more excuses, as is expected from him

actually Ver made a perfect pre-emptive launch, nothing to do with this magical straight line speed

Again, we've seen on lap 1 mercedes and RB are completely equal un-drsed up to at least around 300 kmh. such speed, much wow

2nd time Max has done a restart like that. Pure genius.

My guess is itll not be long before people complain and a ruling gets put in like the last time.

I have the feeling GR will be no more than a forever promise and will win some races, but will never be a wdc.
Where on hell do you get that from, given the car he will be fighting for a title.
Like I said, I just feel he is just that guy ..

Ruling like what? They are required to cross the line in single file?

It was a great restart. Can't stand the stupid weaving so glad he could just show how worthless it is. Only thing that worries me is the potential future check-ups when someone is alongside at the S/F line a la the DRS games at Jeddah 2021 or Bahrain last year. If something happens with the field coming up behind it'll be a BIG accident.

T2 was a simple racing incident, IMO. Russell cocked it up and unfortunately sometimes one driver cocks up and another suffers as a result. He was well entitled to the space and I think, given the fact he was ~14 kph down at the apex of T2 to his other laps (as shown on F1-tempo, at least), he intended to give Verstappen the room on exit to make the corner.

Indeed, when the playing field is levelled out, he often has gotten the better of Max. Spain 2022 springs to mind.
Hahaha .. you do know that drs wasn't working when 'he had the better of Max', right ?
As soon as it worked and he passed, he never saw him again ...
So, he never saw him in a much faster car, great detective work there. Without DRS they were more evenly matched, Russell then put the manners on Max.
You do understand that delta's too small to overtake by themselves created drs in the first place, right ?
He did nothing more really than just regular defending (which is perfectly fine), but to say he put manners on him .. any driver could/would do the same.
But hey, if you feel Crofty's way of thinking is the correct one, then that's fine.

Evidence seems hard to me, as we're talking about things in the future ...

You must have missed the part where he swept back past him, it was brilliant from Russell.
