Being alongside before the lead car 'goes for it'

That’s how Indycar do rolling re-starts. Single file, no gaps between cars.
Verstappen isn't the only driver to do this.
You cant do that though. Once you have chosen to go, after driving at your steady speed, you have to continue to 'go'. You cant decide to floor it and lift off again as its against the rules. Exactly why Lewis couldnt lift off slightly in Zandvoort last year, and George couldnt do it today. It would be a easy way to make the car behind fall foul of overtaking before the start/finish line.
I did not .. that was just proper racing after good defending, true that. And as plus to that, it was without touching.harty71 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 19:16You must have missed the part where he swept back past him, it was brilliant from Russell.langedweil wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 19:12You do understand that delta's too small to overtake by themselves created drs in the first place, right ?
He did nothing more really than just regular defending (which is perfectly fine), but to say he put manners on him .. any driver could/would do the same.
But hey, if you feel Crofty's way of thinking is the correct one, then that's fine.
The first time Max got past with DRS, Russell mugged him into T2 and got back ahead. Max didn't get back ahead until he had to pit again and performed effectively an undercut.langedweil wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 18:08Hahaha .. you do know that drs wasn't working when 'he had the better of Max', right ?
As soon as it worked and he passed, he never saw him again ...
Which part of the rules allow you to send it up the inside and bit into your opponent who's infront, then push them wide into the wall?Tvetovnato wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 23:21Verstappen has to have the worst self-awareness in the history of sports. Funny how it’s always ”hard but fair” racing when he dive bombs people off track or makes other illegal moves, but when someone races him hard inside what the rules actually allow and he loses the battle, they must be punished.
We can be 100 % sure of a delibarate retaliation before the season ends where he crashes out George on purpose after he has secured the title after race 15.
Did you apply this logic of yours to the first lap in AD 21 when Max was fully behind before the braking zone, still sent it up the inside and forced another driver off track?chrisc90 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 23:24Which part of the rules allow you to send it up the inside and bit into your opponent who's infront, then push them wide into the wall?Tvetovnato wrote: ↑29 Apr 2023, 23:21Verstappen has to have the worst self-awareness in the history of sports.
