Lack of upgrades has started hampering competitiveness of car.If not for higher tire wear ; it might be a difficult weekend for AM.

Upgrades are not only the outside and visible parts. We don't know if they upgrade underneath skin. Pace yesterday of Alo on Hard tyres was surpresingly good. Nobody was expecting for AM to be at top 3 teams at this stage at the beginning of the year. It is a long year so better to implement the upgrades gradually specially towards creating a great base for next year. If they manage to hold 2nd or 3rd on constractionship on next 2 races would be a big achivement. Then the upgrades will hopefully will still keep them at top 3 teams

Nothing is recorded/published on the official FIA site apart from the cooling louvers upgrade for this race.
It makes sense since team is targeting the next race for the substantial upgrade package; whether AM will be able to get it or not is another issue.

No sure if you noticed but Alonso's fastest lap on softs was his 8th lap on the same set.

I think thier secret sauce with top speed is.
1 - They tend to run bigger rear wings.
2 - They offset the rear wing with smaller beam wings, 1 beam level or 1 beam wing completely removed.
3 - The sidepod is the shape of an upside down wing. As a whole it has air flowing above it and below it, therfore, it generates DF. More importantly for top speed, there is very little of this pushing the air out at an acute angle near the beginning of the side pods. That must create alot of drag in the AMR type sidepod.

It looks like they ditched the Baku rear wing and went for the Jeddah wing (which is just a trimmed DRS flap on the Bahrain wing) for FP3.

They only used 1 set in Q1.
